A Leprechaun Called Steve Recently, I mentioned to a mate that the longest day was coming soon. He said "Really? It's longer than 24 hours?" These are worrying times.

Aren't they just.

Poetry Corner

There once was a fireman called Fred
Who lived in a small wooden shed
He slept on the floor
His back got sore
And now he's bought a bed!

What do you think, WLW? Have I any talent at all?

Fluffy The Evil One

I had long been aware of this notorious Ziner, and upset that I hadn't seen any contributions from him lately. So you can imagine my disgust and amazement when, whilst looking at B*ckch*t, I saw his name appear!

Surely this can't be the real thing, but a little charlatan hopin to achieve some of his greatness?

I would guess so. Fluffy would never stoop so low.

Proof That WLW Is Human And not A Gay Giraffe

That's right, the mystery of which gender/ species WLW is is finally unravelling. WLW revealed that she/ he is human by making a typo!

Anyone else notice the word 'band2' on 13/8? Just like us, WLW is too lazy to hold down the shift button for more than a second. Only human after all. So stop with the godlike worship and freaky chanting and Watson- hand me my pipe.

She Hath Foundeth Repeat

Upon my return from my holiday in Ireland, I was greeted by these words uttered by my mum: "I've bought that pop song by that lad, Gareth Gates!"

My worst fears were then realised when she pressed play. Not only that, but while I was away, she found where the repeat button is on the hi-fi!

Ladies, I'm Single

Are any Zine girls willing to accept a short, spiky-haired 16-year-old Ziner as their boyfriend?

I'm not difficult to please- a couple of bottles of lemon Fanta now and then and my undying love is yours. Heck, I even have regular income. OK, so it's only £7 a month, but it's better than a kick in the head. If anyone's interested, I love Primal Scream, Incubus and Phoenix Nights. Any offers. How about you, WLW?

Before many Michael Jackson fans have a go at me for slating his comeback, I should say that- unlike most of them- I've seen him in concert. And walked out. It was at Wembley on the aptly-named Bad tour. Seeing a 30-somethng emotionally stunted man in bondage trousers, grabbing his groin, shouting "Ow!" was only funny for so long.

We decided to beat the rush and get the Tube home, thus missing the finale. I've never regretted it. Jelltex

The problem with Michael Jackson's gigs are that it's nothing to do with creating new, relevant and worthwhile art, it's all to do with the soul-destroying term "nostalgia"- the indefinable search for something that was once glorified in the making, but dies within the moment of creation.

A fruitful, challenging career surely can't be sustained by recreating the past, though I adnit there's a huge market for it. Steve Vallely

Dear WLW And Ziners

I was watching a certain music channel, when I noticed a tiny little thing in the corner of my screen, it said "VMAs in 13 days".

I thought to myself, the Video Music Awards? In 13 days? Oh dear Lord, is it award ceremony season already? I haven't even started thinking about red carpet outfits, and what about my hair? And most importantly- ACCESSORISING! Like I'd be seen dead at an awards ceremony.

The Ultimate Fancy Dress Costume

Get two pieces of catdboard (must be extremely wide) and four smaller pieces (so that when put together, they make a cuboid). The bottom piece needs two holes for legs. The widest piece needs one piece each for your arms. The front also needs a hole, so you can see out of it.

Paint it all green, with some black squares along the wider sides. You can now go dressed as a bus!

This pointless and horribly unskilled medium totally ruins any self-respecting jazz song. It also makes jazz men look stupid, and jazz men are usually the epitome of cool.

This question has been raised many times by different people, including cheesy pop band North And South.

Spandex Badger Never knock on Death's door. Ring the bell and run, he hates that!

You don't wanna make him cross- he's not known for his sense of humour.

Lost And Found

Lost: one Ziner by the name of Egg-Shaped Ian. This highly amusing character was one of the reasons I started writing in to begin with, and now he just ain't here no more. Where did this jovial boy go?

Come back, Ian. I mis you. WLW, can I have a picture of an egg? Or an Ian? Just to cheer me up until he reappears. Thank you ever so much.
Girl On The Oatmeal Box

No room for a pic! And you're right- he was a witty little tinker.

Your Choice, The Choice of You

I've been wondering something, WLW. How do you decide which messages to post? Is it purely on content, humour and originality? Or do you look at all the prospective letters and try to create a balance, choosing complimentary and various styles?

Or do you decide based on which you can think of the wittiest replies to? Or can you think of incredibly funny replies to all of them?

You seem to be under the impression some thought goes into these pages.

WLW

I was thinking the other day how annoying it is when I read Zine and the pages change too quickly. I mean, it's Ok for you because none of us know what you are and you might be able to read fast, but some of us can't!

What I'm trying to say is that you're just getting to the punchline at the end of the letter when the page changes and you're still fuming that you missed the last one, so you miss half of the next one!

Hey Ho!

I'm an existing Ziner's alter ego. I'm trying to think of something funny to say, but I have to go and feed my octopus and then I'm washing my hair.

OK, that's just an excuse. I wanna stay anonymous just for the sake of it. Pointless waste of space? I THINK SO!
Crusty Gherkin

Pointless indeed- pop on back when you have, like, something to say.

Selmat Patang, WLW!

Well, I've made it back alive- here are a few pictures from my travels. On the team photo, I'm the one at the front and in the middle wearing the white top, though you can't make me out on the photo descending Mt Kinabula, where we watched the sun rise.

I hope Fulham wasn't too cloudy. Anyway, I'm back now, and with a set of GCSEs to my name. All the good they'll do me.
Sir Whence Pitchfork

Pics were great, though not exactly Zine-friendly, only I can see 'em!

How come that when I wake up I feel more tired than I did when I went to sleep?

But then again, I suppose it would help if I stopped falling asleep on the treadmill.

Satan's Rubber Duck Hip hip hooray for Steve Threlfall- he's one rocking kinda guy!

Not exactly rocking really.

Kilted Englishman WLW, are you that freaky bearded guy who used to present Knightmare?

No I'm not! But thanks for asking.

QuoteUnquote You think you're better than me? That's what you think? Well, I don't know much about fishing, but at least I don't have a Star Wars alarm clock!

It's my dad's- honest, guv!

WLW

I have two questions.

1 What would you do if Spurs won the Premiership?
2 Who would you support if the Gunners didn't exist?

Just curious.

Ha ha ha ha... oh, I'm sorry, they were serious questions?

Ties

Ties are possibly the only area in which men have sartorial superiority over women. For once, we get to browse racks and racks of designs for hours on end, and build such an immense collection as never be worn.

As my friend Duncan says: "In my opinion, any tie goes well with a suit."
Sir Whence Pitchfork

That's your friend Duncan who wears a Homer Simpson tie with a tux?

Ladybirds

Sometimes ladybirds have seven spots and sometimes they have five spots. You may not know that ladybirds are beetles, but they are.

Ladybirds are small, brightly coloured beetles. We often find them munching away on the greenfly that live in our roses. People who like gardening like ladybirds because they eat all the bad bugs. It's all true, it really is.farmer jack
