It's all grey

I've been hearing the dietricians on TV saying that "you are what you eat". I'd like to say this is completely false, as I am more covered in pastry, with gravy surroundings. However, anyone who can arrange this I'm willing to pay good money.

2D relationships

A Japanese guy has an online petition to make the government establish legal marriage rights between humans and characters in manga, anime. He is currently in a relationship with a fictional two-dimensional character. What I want to know is, which animated characters would Ziners like to er, know a little better. Mondo

Job Hunting

A prospect to be feared. The townies in New Look hid behind the counter, the sweaty man in the greasy spoon said I wouldn't fit in and the man at the Chinese takeaway couldn't speak English but, nonetheless offered me a fortune cookie.

WLW, would you employ a 16-year-old female slacker whose only talents are making tea and washing up?

That Time of Year

I am feeling so Christmassy. I have had my first mince pie, seen my first tree and decorations- these are at my pub.

I have also seen a few houses with loads of lights on them- and I mean loads.

I've bought my first Christmas presents and have even bought a fibre-optic tree. I love Christmas, it's great. If only it was December.

Oooo Arrr

I've just been to the countryside and, can I just say it's going to be huge! It's got everything the modern man and woman needs.

There's cows, grass, manure and for those of you who live in Ballymena, sheep! But the downside is it's hard to understand farmers, you'll be covered in manure by the end and, worst of all, there are no shops. Room for expansion, methinks.

Aren't these fun? What a great way of discharging thoughts and otherwise "emotions" from the brain on to the computer screen. It's also quite fun just randomly visiting ones that belong to total strangers, and ferreting through their private life. No ill intention. I'm just being nosey.

Though in fairness, I'm just making myself paranoid. Perhaps I should go to "friends only"?

Wire right about genius

For once, Nicky Wire is talking sense when he calls Gary Barlow a genius. If Coldplay had written Rule The World, critics would fall over themselves to anoint it as single of the year. Matthew Bartley

Where can I get hold of an indie single from 1987 with the lyrics "I'm only going to Sheffield, I'm a Manchester man"? I think it may have been called Indian Ink and the band may have been called The Invisibles. Space Cadet

Don't dismiss Arctics' charity

Lincoln's dismissal of Arctic Monkeys' new single just because they're selling it through Oxfam was ludicrous. The band "don't strike me as charity types"? Why, because they're working class? What offensive bunkum. Whilst Humbug may not excite Lincoln, plenty of others beg to differ. Rob Hunt

Arctics' Humbug sweet

It's a tad harsh of Lincoln to say that Arctic Monkeys releasing Crying Lightning through Oxfam is a "gimmick". The band are on top form with Humbug, with the last two songs Pretty Visitors and The Jeweller's Hands up with their best. Jazz Monroe

By other bands' standards, The Stone Roses' The Second Coming would have been hailed as blinding. For Sleepy's star sign list, what about PWEI's Cancer Dig It? Sam Itla

Goody goody yum yum

An unreasonably warm winter has meant Bill Oddie has come out of hibernation early, crawled out of the straw bedding and is attempting to do Springwatch too early. He isn't being filmed and it may have been a tragedy if his distress call hadn't been picked up by the other Goodies, who are on their way, on the trandem, and will scoop Bill up and take them back to their nest for a well earned rest. Kate Humble is unaffected. Stouffer

What are your collection's extremes?

New debate: if your music collection is a spectrum, what two songs would you put at its extreme? Basically, what are the two most different songs you own? Mine would be Fascination by Alphabeat and Tenth Transcendential by Franz Liszt. Fighting Torque

Puressence will never be big, sadly

I agree with Pete that Puressence have been unfairly ignored by the media for years but, as for them doing an Elbow and making it big despite having been around for years, I left that dream behind a long time ago.

True, Puressence should be national treasures. But, if the media weren't convinced when they released the amazing Don't Forget To Remember album, it's unlikely that they'll ever be converted. Dave Rose

Horror Movies

Does anyone like these? I mostly find them too icky for my taste, but I found something interesting out today. I never knew before, but horror movies can be quite serious. The zombies in Night of The Living Dead are thought to represent soldiers missing in action in Vietnam.

Zine Influence

The Zine (not Zyne, kiddies, that's wrong!) is pretty big now, so let's test out that influence by making up a word and using it to see if people will take it up.

I suggest noggle as the word. It can be used in the following context: You are a noggle. OK then, happy noggling and spread the word of the cult of Zine (Not Zyne!)

Or what about: I've been up 24 hours, I am absolutely noggled, mate.

And the other member(s) of the possessive apostrophe appreciation society! Thank you for pointing out my mistake. I never understood the wonder that is the apostrophe. Never saw the little curled line between my letters. Never knew how good it would make my name good.
The Catnapper's Poodle

Hmmmm. What's that I smell? Irony?

The best three comedies to grace our screens

1 Seinfeld: Wicketty-wacketty basslines and the comic genius og George Constanza. What more could you ask for?
2 I'm Alan Partridge. Who could forget the traffic cone incident or the mad farmer?
3 Alan Partridge versus *rsenal: Ha ha ha, ho ho ho ho, hee hee hee. No, stop! My sides!

Fluffy The Evil One WLW, have you ever posted on Veg Rev? Just to clear it up and all.

Access denied.

Jingle I was walking around my lovely town of High Wycombe the other day, when... hang on, this story is toooo boring.

I was just about to say.

Mystical Doorknob Llamas are great, llamas are fun, I'd rather be a currant bun.

I know a good one about a lobster, but, you know, maybe not appropriate at this juncture.

Me

This may come as a surprise to you, but I am not Irish, or small. As such, all the real leprechauns do not take me as one of their own. So could you print this on May 8 (my birthday) to cheer me up?
A Depressed Leprechaun Called Steve

Missed it by a day! So, Taurus, right? Here's a bull for you, sort of!

Footie

Do I support *rsenal? Do I care about Spurs? Do I feel sorry for Vicky Becky, whose husband has hurt his foot? No!
So, why do ITV insist on showing the Premiership every Saturday might, on a channel called ITV1 Scotland? Scottish footie is more interesting than English stuff- you lot don't get 10 teams simultaneously quitting from a 12-team league!
Satan's 'Rangers Supporter' Rubber Duck

Never mind that. We both had a very good Saturday, didn't we?

Tallina, May 25th

Yes, WLW, the Eurovision one. Pre contest, my favourites are the catchy Malta and the ethnically anthemic Slovenia.
However, Slovenia, with his all-male air-hostess-uniform-wearing trio of performers could be the surprise of the evening. And, to think, Paul Osker was once regarded as the lowest the contest could go!
Insane Jam Sow

I can't wait! Dire songs, dodgy hair, totally appalling outfits.

I can't really agree with Jai that The Second Coming is packed with great songs. It does have a handful of great songs, but a couple of real stinkers too. Just think what a great EP it would have made. As for the claim that Rush "still" rock; sorry, I grew up in the '80s, and I can say they never rocked like AC/DC or Ozzy. Madmetal

I quite like Bat For Lashes and Scott Walker, but their duet on her album is hilariously pretentious. Hejira

The Perplexed Ninha Crow I've got a sore throat, it's a real pain in the neck!

Ha ha ha ha, oh dear.

L'Etoile You know you've done too much chemistry when you can draw one of the ingredients of shampoo.

Wouldn't have happened if you'd listened to me and done woodwork instead.

Pride of Popcorn Whatever happened to TIM VINCENT? I like that guy! In fact, I like him so much he deserves capital letters.

Good riddance to dodgy acting.

Revelations

What's with all these revelations? Firstly She Who Lost The Plot reveals she's not from Barnsley (God knows why she chose that place) and now Superman tells us he's not real.
What next, miss world informing us that she is in fact a bored housewife from Bristol? Or maybe even The Brigadier revealing he's a 19 year old lad who likes nothing more than a good clubbing session!
Exasperated Bluetit

Kim Dawson being the love child of Mabel Mop Lady? Maybe not!
