I can't even begin to put into words how miserable all this snow is making me feel. The damn stuff just won't stop.
God I wish my phone wasn't broken
What network are you with? Can you send texts from their website by logging in using your number?
Orange (if you're with them) let you send 30 online texts a month for free, or unlimited online texts as if they're from your phone (at the usual rate).
I can send 30 for free (that the recipient sees as "sent from [number] via Orange.com")
I can also send as many as I want that appear to the recipient as if I've sent them from my mobile, and they're charged at your usual rate on your bill (free, if within your allowance). It's no different to sending a text message normally, just that it's from the website.
I am fed up of all the ranting on facebook about the tuition fees. I don't think many of my friends realise what they are protesting against. So much so, I worried that I didn't actually understand the situation, as how could so many people be wrong?
Most are complaining that they will not be able to pay, and that the new fees are too high. However:
- None of them will have to pay this increase, as the changes will affect future students. - The new fees system is actually fairly well thought out. there will be no up front fees and people will not have to pay anything back until they earn £21,000 - which I think is reasonable as well as affordable.
There are legitimate reasons to protest however:
- The Liberal Democrats have ditched an election promise, and planned to do so before the election even took place. This is dishonest and unacceptable. - University finding cuts will ruin our standing on the world stage as an academic leaders, and will most harshly affect the arts, which is also unacceptable, but not strictly related to the new funding scheme. - The perceived level of debt will deter students from poorer backgrounds from attending university, despite the fact that the repaying system would accomodate for them, and not charge the graduates until they started earning £21,000 a year.
I wish more would complain about the latter, rather than the former. Especially as the campaigns at the moment would seemingly seem to make the third legitimate reason ever more of a problem by feeding into fears that students would not be able to afford university.
This is my understanding of the situation. If it is wrong, please tell me- I want to know.

I know there aren’t many people looking at this anymore… but I have made the decision to stop paying for the VR hosting and to let the domain lapse.

I think it will be going offline around the end of May
