that's not a country. it's a united kingdom. hence the name and stuff. there are 3 and a bit countries in it, england, wales, scotland and northern ireland. is northern ireland a different country to ireland? i know ireland want it back, but...yeah, i don't know what i am talking about.

I'm afraid the UK is the country. Every international reference point bar football agrees on this. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are constituent regions. (Ireland/Eire is completely separate.)

There's nothing to say a Kingdom can't be a country. Off the top of my head, the Kingdom of Lesotho is most definitely one.

Is the avatar upload thing broken?

As the United Kingdom I officially annoucne that I have a permanent stronghold on England.
Scotland and Northern Ireland I'm not so bothered about but am still in ownership of. As for Wales, it was left off of a map of the UK as I saw in the news a little while ago, so it can be seperate...
