WLW has been good to us all these years. I'm sure you all agree. There's talk of a farewell letter, but seeing as this is going to probably be as hard on the White Line Warrior as any of us.

The ideas behind this post are we should do/get something for WLW.
So far either a collection or individual gifts seem an idea. I'll try and do something from here as well.

Come on, let's give something back! If you can.

If it's a collection, one of those websites - justgiving.com or similar - could be set up. Though I admit I know nothing about how that works -e.g. whether it can be done without the intended recipient setting it up in the first place.

Anyway, if we set an amount for each donation - say a fiver or something - and we all chipped in, we could raise quite a bit for WLW to buy himself something nice.

Alternatively, we think of a physical gift someone can get on everyone's behalf (after collecting monies) and post it off to Teletext Towers when the time comes.

Let's all just organise a meet in London in April, and invite WLW to the pub. Buy him a round or three then get him bladdered and find out what he ACTUALLY thinks of everyone

I'm pretty sure WLW is a woman and has other jobs within teletext I'd also hazard a guess there's been at least three since I started reading.

I'm not sure, I'm not sure, and I'm not sure.

Just going out tomorrow, to see if I can find anything as a small present for WLW, nothing brilliant, but I'm going to try dammit. The giraffe has almost braved sandstorms and the like to ensure we get a daily giggle or five. Nearly always posts funny comments, and I think we owe it to him, even if there have been different ones, the current one (I'm really not sure, I honestly thought there had only been one) still deserves something.

I feel strange. This news hasn't made any of us feel great though.
Even though no one expected me to, I can't sort any money out due to my location and fear of responsibility.

I like the drawing idea!

Anyway, here's a simple plan that's just occurred to me. We should ALL send (by post) a "Sorry You're Leaving"-type card to WLW so he can display them around the office as a graphic illustration of how many people are affected by the end of 'Zine.

It won't cost much and the individual touch will probably be appreciated. So, get something posted to:

Thanks for the address, this'll come in handy when I finally get him something... (It's really hard to find something...)

It's a good idea, though I suspect the only person it may have an affect on is WLW, as the b*st*rds at Teletext have no hearts or sense. In a purely must-be-mad-to-get-rid-of-something-so-popular way.

Unrelatedly, were WLW to be willing to tell us about the whole thing, of how many WLW's there has been (I'm still naïve and think it's the same one) why it's ended, and basically anything like that (I'd like to know anything he has to say); would anyone be interested, or might it ruin the illusion?

I know this eventuality is rather unlikely, but I for one would be interested in knowing.

I shall have to purchase a card and gift tomorrow, but El Corté Inglés is so far... WLW's worth it though. After class I shall go. Do you think he'd mind what it is that he gets? I don't want to get a terrible gift, but I don't have many euros either...

Here is my idea. At the next VR meet, everyone should make a poster where they write a message of love and support for WLW. Then they all hold it up and take a photo, which could then be posted on VR.

Yes! We'd be like the Calendar Girls!

I'm actually fully liking the idea of a proper Sorry You're Leaving card. Because.... yeah, it's someone losing his job.

Do we actually know when WLW is departing? Because if we miss the deadline, they'll probably be kept in the office by the snarky pointy-faced women that all offices seem to have. You know, the ones that go all quiet whenever someone enters the room, an' all.

Ok, sent now. The sellotape I was sold is abysmal. I sat in the post office for about quarter of an hour trying to get the b*st*rd sealed. On the plus side, postage was a bit cheaper than I thought it would be, which means I can get food tomorrow xD

Sending postcards is a good idea I think. I probably won't get time to do one myself but if anyone wants to stick my name on one on my behalf with "f*ck YOU TELETEXT" on the front, that would be smashing.

Scratch that. This is my postcard.

Can't both happen? Though that is a brilliant postcard.
