Well, it's quite a shame, really, I had a few letters that I still wanted to get printed. I'll just make my own version of Mega-Zine and send them to myself until I run out of ideas. That, or nothing. Nothing.

Where did you see this?

It says Ace is ending and that all the gossip and madness will be moving to a new Planet Sound bit.

Ah, this does make me sad. Mega-zine is THE last page still going from my heyday of Ceefax/Teletext reading, which about five years ago included Digitiser, Quotes of the Day (Ceefax p. 146), all the comments pages on Ceefax (Vibe, Chatterbox, yes - even Backchat), the TV previews and reviews section on BBC (used to be pages 590-5), and then Angst, Frame It and Turner the Worm on C4 for a laugh.

The digital TV revolution has a lot to answer for. Whatever anyone says, Digital Teletext is rubbish, and shouldn't carry the name. It's merely another system of boring menus to navigate.

Anyway, is anyone planning to send in a final letter? I wouldn't mind sending one in for the occasion, even if the current WLW won't have a clue who I am.

I cried last night. - It is really silly and soppy. :-[

I am really scared I will not be so creative now, and also I am worried I will not be so close to everyone. - Megazine was like a little group.

I was not ready to stop yet.

It hurts too much not to try.

I guess it was bound to happy, but it's upsetting... and WLW never printed my Aphra revelation letter. I might try and send it

life would be very different for everyone here without 'Zine. I say instead of letting it's last few days be filled with crap, we should all try and write some good stuff, make it like the "good old days"

I've sent in one letter. It's not very good due to my lengthly period with no practice, but never the less I've shown willing.

Unfortunately I had to ask people where I could find 'Zine

I wonder if WLW will come on VR at the end of it all. Mind you, I don't suppose he'd be overly welcome anymore.

Ah well. As has been said before, it was inevitable. Anyone interested in sending in a letter signed Vegetable Revolution saying bye to Zine and asking that it be the last letter printed? I would organise one but I dont be here enough. Go on! You know you all want to! Also, if we could see a final letter from Topper, that'd be sweet

aww, that's sad. Much as it's crap now (and I haven't read in years... Why am I mod of here again?), it did bring us all together I suppose.

Already sent, amigo, but it's not really a funny letter or anything, just a goodbye type letter. I felt as if I should send something in as 'Zine was, at one point of my life, quite important, as sad as that sounds.
I hope some day, for some reason, David Duchovny is investigated by the FBI. Because that would make a great story.

VR will survive. It's just a matter of adapting although yeah, without Zine I doubt this site or the friendships that have been created would exist. Back when I was at school Zine really was a great help to me as it gave me something to smile about. I will miss that. I will miss all the laughs there have been over the years. The way it is now is only really a shadow of how good it used to be.

I've sent a personal letter of farewell, but I do think a VR message would be good. As for someone to organise it, how about Rob (ANBY) before his modship powers become worthless...?

Or Smashed Strawberry, whose work on Mega-zine Letters has been so good?

Would the VR message be intended for screening? If so... how's it gonna work?

It's a real shame that zine is finishing. Though I can't say that it's not about time lately. It's gone downhill drastically, and I think the end is evidence of its demise.

I wouldn't say it changes much about this site. I'm sure there's still ziners that haven't found VR yet (god help them). And I think that some may return, that is, if they still read zine.

As suggestions, we could resend some of the better letters from over the years. Like a best of zine?

Or just give nods to those who've tried to keep it going lately?

I think a final VR goodbye is a fantastic idea. But it needs to be old-school ziney, definitely.

A VR letter would just be a single letter saying goodbye to Zine etc. I doubt we would have room for everyones names or messages unless we put a footnote asking it to be continued on each page on the last day of Zine. We are the regulars. It would suck if there was newbies printed on the last day.

I will miss Zine. It has sucked for a while but there has still been some good letters from the regs. I also nominate Rob, Smashed Strawberry and Little Blue Fox to mainly write the letter

Hi. I wrote a letter about Mega-zine to Teletext.
They replied!...

"Thank you for your e-mail about Mega-zine. We appreciate the feedback
and the support you have given the page.

We do take on board the views of those who read our pages. If more Ace viewers write in about the changes it would send a message to the powers that be about how popular Mega-zine is.

I shall log your comments which will be read by senior editors."

I think I'll fight for Mega-zine to stay. I think. How else are we going to inherit newbies? ...although its current audience ain't our style, really... uh...
Anyway, if we can get a petition or something to show the volume of people who want it to stay, maybemaybe... But yeah, IS it worth it? ...
