Well, it looks like labour has started, so all being well there should be a baby within 12 hours.

Right, well, here's an update...

Kirstie has now been in labour for 38 hours.

We called the hospital when contractions were regular and painful, and they said come in, so we went in. They prodded around a bit, didn't bother with any pain relief (which was the whole point of going in) and basically told us to b*gger off because she's 'not far gone enough'.

The hospital is full of idiots, basically. They said come back on Wednesday for the induction. WEDNESDAY?! So Kirstie has to be in extremely painful labour for another TWO DAYS? Bullsh*t.

Well, that was quite something. I can now say I've slept on a delivery room floor.

Anyway, Saffron was born at 11:51 on 6th May 2008, weighing 8lbs 15 ounces.
Here she is...

Immediately after the birth

Kirstie + oxygen mask

So we went in to hospital (again) at about 10 last night, they gave her gas & air but contractions weren't getting any more regular but still pretty painful so eventually she had an epidural, this sorted out the pain but she still wasn't coming out, and at about 11:30 this morning after 61 hours of labour the baby started getting uncomfortable so they performed an emergency caesarean. Because of the epidural Kirstie had to have a full general anaesthetic but Saffron was perfectly fine when she came out and now both are still at the hospital in good condition. Naturally the anaesthetic is going to take a while to wear off so they're both quite tired, and that's why Kirstie has an oxygen mask.

But, there we are. I have a daughter!

Considering it's Hurri, I'm surprised he didn't choose the name 'Rita'.
