Overrated?...hmm, Travis, Stereophonics, Oasis, The Darkness, Basement Jaxx (good, but not THAT good), most indie bands really....
I hope some day, for some reason, David Duchovny is investigated by the FBI. Because that would make a great story.

It's Fiona.

Real name list here.

The name refers to sign in name rather than nickname, so for instance, I'm thehoopiestfrood, not Hobbes. There's a link for you to add your name to another thread and then you'll be added into that thread. It hasn't actually been updated in a while so I'll have to do that soon.

I can't decide on just one, so I'll rant at length *deep breath*

Hope of the States, Led Zeppelin, The Libertines, The Darkness, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Snow Patrol, Limp Bizkit, Jet, The Vines (the vast majority of 'the' bands, come to think of it) , Powder, Lostprophets, Papa Roach, Madonna (not a band, granted, but godawful)...

And Jemini. Hehe.

yeah, actually.

don't forget Kasabian (sorry, LSF has really disappointed me) Muse, Radiohead and Jimi Hendrix (Though Hendrix was amazing, but surly the most overrated guitarist ever?)

and yes, Nirvana.

Jimi Hendrix is rated highly, but he isnt over-rated in my opinion. He had masses of potential.
OK Computer by Radiohead and Absolution by Muse are absurdly overrated.

All the bands/singers I think are overrated have all been mentioned already: Morrissey, The Smiths, The Beatles, Franz Ferdinand.

And even though I love 'em, I guess Led Zep too.
What can I say? I did it all for the Wookies.

Regarding Oasis, Mark. I know you like them and I admire Noel for hooking up with the Chemical Brothers on 'Setting Sun' , but I just personally feel, although their brand of indie was memorable and quite fun, it just didn't do much for me. I was always a Blur man.

Poorly recorded drums + guitar that goes "DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN" + vocals that need to be turned up = any Strokes song recorded.

ok, come together and get back arent bad, but they arent as good as they're made out to be. they are "average", and i dont give a crap how much influence they gave popular music. without them, music might be different, but definetly not worse. they popularised a form of music with too much structure and 'poppiness'.

Would the music world be better off without Smells like teen spirit, Live forever, my generation or Layla?

yes. i hate those songs.

i was just saying that music might have turned out a different way - if they're that much of an influence as everyone keeps saying, we could have had music just as good, but different.

as for the structure, i prefer music which hasnt just got VERSE CHORUS VERSE CHORUS VERSE CHORUS BRIDGE KEYCHANGE CHORUS, thats often kinda boring and less creative.

albums wot are bettar than sgt pepper from 1967:
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn - Pink Floyd
Are You Experienced - Jimi Hendrix Experience
Axis: Bold as Love - Jimi Hendrix Experience
Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground
Safe as Milk - Captain Beefheart
The Who Sell Out - The Who
and probably more if i could be arsed..
