If I ever get trapped on a desert island, I will bring a ladle. And the collected works of Aphra Behn, so I can recite her poetry to the monkeys. But I won't bring survival equipment, because ladles are better. They can be used for eating soup and bashing enemies. And "ladle" sounds better. Have you got plans for emergencies, WLW? My new house

I'm moving house. I'm leaving one village in the North for an even smaller one in the North with 40 houses and a pub. Welcome to the industrial and post-margaret thatcher poverty. The lack of women is worrying me already. At least I'll be able to drink myself to drink.

I've formed a new band called Stompa Jennings And The Vervet Monkeys. We are working on our first hit song, entitled D*mn Harrods. We are stuck. First, we can't come up with anything to rhyme with Harrods. Second, we have no lead singer. We intended to bring louis Armstrong back from the dead but our attempts. Any advice, WLW?

I have been watching the Star Wars films. Starting at Episode 4 is just plain stupid. I have noticed the more Imperial Stormtroopers there are, the less likely they are to hit anything. The fact they got bent by Ewoks just shows standards must have slipped.

Cold weather and being a student is a marvellous thing. You have to make crazy decisions like whether to wear three jumpers, or to put on the central heating. Strangely, it is buy one get one free at the local shop at the minute, though. Here I am sitting in three layers with a bowl of ice cream. You couldn't make it up. Penny for the minister?
