My first gig was Reading Festival in 1995, aged 17. Smashing Pumpkins at their peak, and Foo Fighters' first ever UK gig. It was an experience. J Po

The Charlatans at Wolverhampton Civic in 1994 changed my life. I'd probably still be bouncing around to happy hardcore if it wasn't for those soul-savers. Bucko

My first gig was Iron Maiden in Cardiff in 1986, at 15. It was great! Phil Sims

My first gig was David Bowie in Hammersmith in 1973. My cousin, who was in the music business, sneaked me in. My last gig was Tiny Dancers last Saturday. Over 35 years of gigging, and I'm still like a big kid. Dante Banks

I can't remember which came first in 1987, Madonna at Roundhay Park or The Mission at Leeds Uni. Both were great. My brother was mates with The Mission's drummer, so we got backstage, a huge buzz for a 13-year-old. Gman

My first gig was Oasis supported by OCS six years ago when I was 10, at Derry Prehen Fields. All I remember was that it was wet! Derryite

Cyndi Lauper was my first gig, in 1994 at Sheffield City Hall. What a voice! I can't wait for her new album in September. Craigy

My first gig, at 11, was All Saints in 1998. Not in a big venue, but Hull Ice. I still had a wicked time. Hull Emma

My first gig was Carter USM at Newport Centre in 1991. I had my hair cut like Jim Bob and even had a pair of tartan trousers. What a plank. I saw them loads of times after, and can't wait for their reunion gig in November. Nigel Pritchard

My first gig was Ultravox in the John Foxx days in Manchester. Then Magazine and Crowded House. Not a bad start, but my first single was The Rubettes' Sugar Baby Love. Ron Nonymous

I'm loving the Love Is H*ll album by Ryan Adams. I got turned on to it by his version of Wonderwall but this is just one of the many gems. I can't believe his record company refused to release it at first for being too bleak. The fools! Miki

How disgraceful can some people be? The corporately mega-rich and profiting Tesco, uber-rich Keane and TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall campaigning to raise a mere £87, 000 to raise the standards for chickens (for which I agree on behalf of the chickens).

I've come up with a simple idea. Dig your hands in your stuffed pockets and agree to pay a third each. That simple. Steve

Not sure why Alison Goldfrapp felt the need to state the obvious when she attacked Duffy. Winehouse's broad appeal made it a given that the execs would do what they always do, look for more of the same to keep the cash register ringing. Hence we have Duffy, Adele, Chilme.

You only have to hear the plethora of mediocre indie bands since the success of Arctic Monkeys to know that. Nicko

If Keane had paid the whole of Hugn Fearnley-Whittingstall's £37, 000, as a Voider suggested, then Tesco could claim it was just Hugh and his millionaire mates who cared about animal welfare. All the band were trying to do was draw attention to the cause and get more donations. They also made monetary donations and are auctioning off the gold discs. Nothing despicable about that. I should have expected it, given the channel, but ITV2's coverage of Isle of Wight Festival was abysmal. Half of the daily 60-minute round-up show was taken up with ads, unenlightening interviews and a no-mark comedian, meaning at most one song for the non-headliners, and not even that for Delays.

Thank goodness for the BBC. Their exhaustive coverage of One Big Weekend has got me looking forward to its other festival output. Jamie Green

Shakespeare Not In Love?

I came out of my English class to meet up with my mates. When I did, they started to tell me that Shakespeare was gay. I wasn't sure what reaction to give.

But this is stupid. Why did he bed Gwyneth Paltrow in the hit film then? He was in love with the girl: a girl! It makes no sense! It was their English teacher who told them that this was all false.

Dizzy: He might want to slap us.
Dotty: I've heard he's a bit of a slapper.
Dizzy: Say something nice about Chelsea.
Dotty: They're better than Bolton.
I'm A Little Teapot

Better than Bolton? That's the best you can do?!

Final Now

When I typed that last letter, I did know that Stuy wrote songs for me. Ahh, he's so lovely! However, I like Mushroom too and he deserves more attention. So I have solved my dilemma. I have cloned myself. Now I can have both of you. I can also use a spell to make sure the two clones never run into each other. Oh, and I promise that this will be the last love message.
Gothbabe

Clones? Reminds me of that awful S Club film.

The Zine Superhero

Regarding the possibility of a coalition between you and me. It would be a crime against music if we did not try to halt teh manufactured pop scene from spreading their cover songs all over the charts.

The Legendary Superheroes as a name, perhaps? Or the Superheroes of Legend? I say Michelle from Pop Idol should be our first target. Here's to us!
The Legend

I hope you have a big blob of paint to try to reach her.

I don't know why Nicko says indie has been mediocre since Arctic Monkeys. The Arctics are just indie for scenesters. Not all new indie is mediocre anyway, Foals and MGMT prove that. Also, Gabriella Climi's album is good for her age.

Does anyone know what's happening with Josh Homme's next batch of Desert Sessions? I'd heard the series was due to end with the next one, Volume 11 and 12. What's going on? Craig Rees

I see Led Zeppelin got Best Live Act at Mojo Awards. I'd have loved to have seen them, but I didn't have a few grand to spare so I had more chance of getting Willy Wonka's golden ticket than a place at London 02. However, I have seen Bruce Springsteen four times in the last six months and, live, he's unbeatable, even by Led Zeppelin. Tom Joad

I often try to recall which of the Jarman twins in The Cribs, Ryan or Gary, I shared Mrs fairweather's English class with at Herbury School. Their band was called Wuzzle back then, and said twin sat next to David Thaomas. Can Earls ask next time he interviews them? Matth Stil

I was blown away by the talent on show at Isle of wight Festival, apart from Ian Brown. To casual critics who know nothing about festivals because you're too busy eating prawn sarnies in the VIP tent. It's a shame those bottles are plastic, as you'd have got your just deserts from true music fans. Untamed Shrew

Despite Earls's review, the new Sigur Ros is another beautiful album by a band who mean so much. Edmund Hayward

I heard Violet Hill for the first time and it made me think of the questions people asked about why it was the first single from Viva La Vida. One of the main criticisms of Coldplay is that all their singles sound the same. Violet Hill doesn't, whereas the title track on the iTunes ad is typical Coldplay fare. SF '80

For decades to come, every single white British female solo singer is going to be compared unfavourably to Amy Winehouse for no other reason than that she was first on the scene, and has a car-crash lifestyle that fits the cliché of a tortured artist. It's ridiculous. No woman will be allowed to sing without being accused of ripping off Winehouse. I prefer Duffy's voice, and she's got better songs. Grev
