The decline of CD singles has been on the cards for years, with gimmicks to ensure they become instant hits taking their toll. At least with downloads, the pricing is simple and you get what you pay for. Dionne Jones

My first gig was AC/DC at Leeds Queen's Hall on 1/10/1982 when I was 14. It was £4 and brilliant. I still see bands now. I saw Sons And Daughters on Friday, and they were great too. Martyn Percival

I'm with Earls rather than Lawrie on the new Ladytron album. It's boring and samey throughout. It was my first intro to the band, and I found it a letdown. Steve Reynolds

I don't see why the Voider whose first album was 90125 by Yes should be so embarrassed by it. It was mine too, when I was seven, and I eventually became such a fan that I bought their entire back catalogue on vinyl and then again on CD a few years later. Matt RSJ

The Reverend's complaints about the security at Ministry's farewell gig at Manchester Academy amused me. It's worth remembering Ministry played in the same town as Damageplan the night Dimebag Darrell was sh*t dead on stage.

I doubt the people at that gig would have any qualms about metal detectors. I wasn't too inconvenienced at the same gig. Revd should save his money in future and I'll gladly take your place at safer gigs. Andy Whittaker

My first gig was Northside at Blackburn King George in 1990. That loved-up acid house era, being 18 and at college free from the restraints of school. Fond memories. Queen B

Ricky Wilson reckons his cabaret act Kaiser Chiefs are the natural successor to Oasis, who he claims are "up their a****"? What a joke. Wilson was born up his own behind. Oasis are a genuine band, not a bunch of fake jokers like Kaiser Chiefs. Manickev

I'm no Oasis fan, but for Ricky Wilson to say Kaiser chiefs are the natural successor to Oasis is as laughable as if The Bay City Rollers had claimed they were the heirs to The Beatles. Red Dirt Girl

My first gig was Judas Priest in 1981, with Accept supporting. My dad complained all the way home about paying for a seat, only to have to stand all the way through. It was a great gig, though. Johnny Whitesox

Check Your Blind spot

I have dtarted driving lessons and have entered the world of the motorist. Things I have enjoyed doing in my lessons so far include stalling at traffic lights, stalling at crossings and anywhere else I get the chance!

Motorists are a great bunch, as they all beep their horns to show the hilarity of it.

The DeLorean That Got Struck By Lightning I envisage a world where all chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.

So long as they don't peck my bus tyres.

Waffle The Tortoise Keeper Some words are good, like "embroil ed," but some, like "turnip," are poor. What's your favourite word, WLW?

I can't say on TV.

BCG

I survived my BCG. Yeah, it stung like h*ll so I just thought of James Bourne. He made it all better.

Oh yeah, Odd Cod. I see we both like James Bourne. He rocks.

Devil May Cry 2

Hi, I'm The Mogtrix and I'm an addict. I can't say why I can't stop myself from playing this game but I can say the time that I usually devote to dreaming up letters has now been taken up by plotting ways to defeat a many headed blob called Argosax The Chaos.

Hang on a minute, he's not related to Davord by any chance?
The Mogtrix

We don't speak of Davord's relations. It upsets him.

I'm glad Planet Sound did an obituary on that innovator Bo Diddley. It seemed in his final days he only appeared in the music news sections after his health scares, when he was knocking on heaven's door and cheekily running away.

With his death, gone is a brilliant talent and personality fresher than some of the more recently-hatched musicians. Miss A Vein

Because Dimebag Darrell was m*rd*red in the US, why should that affect gigs in the UK? Security is down to the firm hired by the venue. If they take a heavy-handed approach, all punters suffer. Most gigs done by Doormen St are laid back. Xeroxed

Lily Allen has become a tacky celeb, reminding me of the worst kind of Big Brother housemate. Flashing her boobs, dodgy TV shows, chasing any old bloke. I'm disappointed. Croydon Ian

Dimebag Darrell's death was a tragedy, but not more so than any m*rd*r. Does Andy want to live in a society where everyone is treated like a potential criminal? If so, we should require similar security measures like Manchester Academy uses, everywhere from schools to churches. The Reverend

After watching New Order's new DVD Live In Glasgow, can any fan think the band can continue without Peter Hook? Thought not. Sandy Cowan

My first gig was Suede at Liverpool Royal Court in 1994. Brett Anderson was stunning, but what I remember most was the mad feeling of being pushed forward into the crowd when they began Animal Nitrate. I was only 14, and thought everyone stood politely in one place at gigs. Gaynor Williams

My first was Adam & The Ants a week before their TOTP debut at Grimsby Central. I saw Bow Wow Wow two nights later. Heady days. Rawcs

The death of the single is in part due to chart compilers OCC's decision too make the single as unattractive as possible, such as banning singles with more than three songs, and those old lovely 7" doublepacks. Bring back proper four-song EPs like My Bl*ody Valentine's Glider. Adam Syntax

My first single was Somewhere In My Heart by Aztec Camera, back in 1988. It hasn't aged well, but I still love it anyway. The Doc

My daughter has just been offered a ticket for elton John at Liverpool Arena at face value, £100. My first two gigs were both Elton, at Liverpool Empire. In 1973, it was 65p. A year later, it was 75p. How's that for raging inflation? Gazzoir

Earls should carry on being an Elbow fanboy. Them, Cherry Ghost, Doves, all great stuff. I'm also jealous of those who saw Manics support Foos. What a show that must have been. T Bousfield
