Little Blue Fox. - Hope is important.

Hope is important.

Please vote for your bestest letter.
The closing date for all the votes is June 25th.
I hope it is a good idea.

1. DARK GREY WOLF OF NORBEX. I can take the abuse, but the social rejection's a nightmare. Then again, that's the price you pay when you become WLW. A wolf in giraffe's clothing? I think not.
-----
2. LONG SHORTS.

One of the history teachers at university always wears long shorts (he also has bushy eyebrows).

I thought they were long shorts, but I am not sure. Are they long shorts, or short longs? Short longs or long shorts?

What do you think, White Line Warrior?

Aphra the Post-Modern Spy.

Worryingly, I think they are long
JOHNS THAT WENT SAGGY IN THE WASH.

-----
3. SUMMER TERM

Two weeks of lectures and three weeks
of exams. Yes, 'tiz a dossy term. And
as students we seem to think it's our
duty to do the full five weeks without
doing anything even vaguely resembling
house work, partly due to the student
loan already being blown and mainly
because we are lazy.

Day 16 and I think I'm starting to
smell. Anyone lend us

I was torn between Dark Grey Wolf of Norbex and Numberthree, but in the end I voted Numberthree... :-)

I think it's cool that this is starting up again, but who picks the 5 in the poll? Is it just your own fave five?
I hope some day, for some reason, David Duchovny is investigated by the FBI. Because that would make a great story.

are we voting on how good the letter is, or how crap WLW's comment is? If it is the former, I say freshly squeezed cynic, because being a loser, it made me laugh out loud. If it is the latter, I would go with the response to Numberthree.

Don't be f*cking stupid. You're voting on the quality of the letter.

Nice one David, glad to see someone with the youthful eagerness about ML that I once had.

Ah, good to see it back. It almost makes me want to get back into the 'Zine swing and start writing in again...almost.

Incidently, just a suggestion, but why not make it an entirely open vote? So people can nominate any letter from the week as opposed to only being able to vote for the first 5 that people happen to nominate. I know it would be messier and they'd be no poll, just people nominating letters in the relevant thread, but it seems a more open and democratic way of doing it. Just a suggestion, mind.

Rose? I don't understand that one.

I don't know how the hotties thing works to be honest, I never pay it much attention, but if there's a poll, then no. Basically, I suggested just nominating a letter in the actual post you make and then someone counts them all up after a pre-determined time and the winner is found. It means any letter can win and not just the first five people happen to choose.

I really don't know either. Maybe Bucky is too close to Bunny in my mind or something? Sorry

Hotties works with everyone nominating who they think deserves the title and at the end of the month Kim makes a separate topic in polls where those nominated get voted for. So in essence it's the same thing just your idea is condensed into one topic which is probably better if it were to be on a weekly basis.

Thoughts on whether it should be a weekly basis or less frequent?

I think the question is.. is there actually going to be enough decent letters after one week to actually vote for? Maybe it should be less frequent... my opinion though. I'd be happy if it was every week so long as the letters were good. I just don't imagine there'll be a lot to choose from after 7 days.

Well, firstly, maybe some feedback from other people on my idea would be helpful? As I feel like some sort of thread dictator at the moment

But regarding the frequency of the showcase, maybe a weekly thing would be best as if it were monthly or even fortnightly then there'd be so many letters to choose from that you'd end up with a result a bit like the following:

Delorean(23rd): 1 vote
Freshly Squeezed Cynic(11th): 1 vote
Lilac Leopard(3rd): 1vote
Interesting Chair(30th): 1 vote
Lilac Leopard(18th): 1 vote

etc etc etc

...as opposed to a weekly thing where they'd be less letters to vote for and thus a closer and more interesting fight for the title. It would mean less though as in a week they'd be less competition.

Up to you mods though. These purely suggested suggestions have been suggested to you by the Alex Corporation of Suggestions and Suggested Suggestions.

Hi there Alex, how's it going? Have you been anywhere today?

I'm not really one to comment on other peoples ideas, but as for your idea, I think its a pretty good idea, as far as other peoples ideas go. One things for sure, its definitely not a bad idea. It probably needs some more people to comment on it but yeah, I'd definitely agree you were thread dictator. Booyak.

Sometimes I think about going to the zoo, then also, the cinema. Then I think, 'why not just go and see a film with an animal in?'.

then I end up downloading the film, and don't even have to get out of bed. THAT'S the kind of sh*t i'm talkin' 'bout foo'.
