That makes sense, I guess I was quick to assume but who knows how other people are coping with this. The only certainty is that it's upset us all which just goes to show how missed he will be. I spoke to him literally days ago and he was saying he'd like to come out to Japan sometime :/

Honestly I posted something to my wall in the same way people put a bench in a park. A tiny tribute to say "you might not have known him, but this guy was great and he did loads for a lot of people". To me that makes more sense than posting to a wall of someone who has passed away - but that is a personal call, everyone has their own ideas of how to cope and what is appropriate.

There are things I want to say, and there's not really any place to say them, so I'll put them down here for a bit to get them out of my head.

We had a f*cked up relationship (both your term and mine), which probably (OK, definitely) led to a lot of stresses on both sides. You were a stubborn, competitive b*st*rd as am I. Why we both played chicken eating hot chillies and using XXX HOT sauce (sorry Darren ) I can't remember. But we did, and it was fun. Stupid, but fun.

Staying up all night drinking when you came back after your mum died. And then subsequent nights, because it became a theme. Late night insomnia chats, and actually getting serious about stuff. Because you understood my head and the way I reacted. Hopefully I helped you, too.

You were a very close friend. I just wish I'd been there when you died, instead of you being on your own. I just wish your body had waited until Saturday when I would have been there. x

Also, just before the last time you were hospitalised, I got recurring obsessive thoughts that I would have to identify your body.

This time, it happened again. (Only also interspersed with small hallucinations of Gary Numan popping about. Thank-you migraine medication and sleeping pills. But I think you'd laugh at that.)

Another thing I think you'd laugh at, and we're talking purely childish humour here: passed a take out called Wang's F.C. It amused me and I wanted to share.

And, just for you, Ohhh jaaaa /me is German Pornstar.

Right now, being there for each other is something we all can do, no matter how useless we feel at not being able to do much/anything financially or attending the funeral. Even something as simple as telling each other how much we appreciate them. It was something that I realised I should do more before James passed away, the point's been hammered home now.

Lisa, you make me laugh so much with your posts and comments on Facebook. Even though we've never met in person, you help perk me up on those days when I feel like sh*t just by being you. Thank you for coming into my life and staying there when so many others have walked on by <3

Quantum Leap night at Fab Café; Going to Ryna gigs; semi-colons; speed walking competitiveness; "Alice lifting" (and dropping you on a bollard); "I sound like Joe Pasquale"; struggling to find a birthday present for Marton - Chuck Palahniuk versus Van der Graaf generator (latter won); pub quizzes. Lots and lots of pub quizzes and essentially hustling the Grafton. Cherie Blair fitting 14 cocks in her mouth (and the racist gang of Nigerian mothers who mugged people in Whitworth Park; caramel macchiato; you gave me racing nuns, I gave you ebola; Fight Club; that amazing New Year's Eve party where Scott and me, you and Antonia were the only 4 people in the club for most of the evening.

Then London times... ups and downs and German pornstars.

Loneliness is a f*cking b*tch. I would give anything to just sleep right now.

Jamie was here yesterday as well, so perhaps that's what made you listen to Blind Lemon Jefferson.

Edit: Huh, i think it might have been Sunday rather than yesterday. Still, i've never claimed to remember everything.

You're being a mawkish idiot. Pull yourself together, Al.
Errr, why aren't you crying, you f*cking robot?

As you can see, this is a very contradictory place. And it feels surreal and I genuinely feel dizzy and peculiar at the moment and not in a good way.

But I am now very pleased that MOVE is back.

Oh gosh - you are not mawkish or a robot at-all. It is really not true! All the things you are feeling this week are really normal and important. Everyone has felt really surreal and displaced all week, I think - it is the saddest, most horrible sudden thing, and everything we feel is ok. It is really ok to be upset and angry and overwhelmed and sentimental all at once.
But but but please do not be mad or frustrated at yourself!

I love how there's more depression awareness in the wake of Robin Williams' death. A bit too late in one case, but hopefully possible to prevent it happening again. Part of me feels it's another internet 'trend' like Kony (cynical, I know).

Only problem is I'm getting depressed over all this talk of depression. I wish my brain was 'normal' at times...

Did you come to see the Wildhearts with me, Emma and Gary? That was around about that time. I was f*cking deaf when I came out of that gig.

No, I'm pretty sure I've never seen The Wildhearts :-(
I saw Iron & Wine, The Gutter Twins and...Biffy Clyro with you!

Biffy! That was it. Was totally wrecked and got asked to do a station ident vy some radio lass - "Hi. I'm the Doc, and I'm getting some Biffy on with Xfm Manchester....." The Academy was in bits so if you wanted a p*ss there were loads of portable ones outside, that was that night, wasn't it?

Gutter Twins was a brilliant show. Sh*tting hell man, it's f*cking donkeys years ago, that. 2008, I think. F*ck.

Yep! I remember the portaloos. That might have been the first gig I ever really went to.
The Gutter Twins were amazing, such presence. I remember them stopping the show to threaten people filming.

I had forgotten the portaloos!! I dunno how though, they were memorable. Then we went to 42s after, there's a photo of me holding 3 bottles of Desperados from that night...

What a night! That definitely wasn't my first time in 42s.
