I don't know much about what you can do, but I'd recommend going to see a doctor. You don't have to take any medication they prescribe, but it may help, and I doubt you'd get kicked off your degree, if you're anxious about that then ask somebody. Also, you may want to go to counselling, it does work for some.
There are probably even specialists out there who can help you too, especially if it gets really bad.
For now I'd say follow Alice's advice and try to keep your mind off it, although it can be difficult.
