Hola!

Martin and I are just home from Barcelona after a beautiful holiday where we got engaged

Exciiiiiiting!

I guess we owe this to VR so we thought we'd make a thread to share our news. Is this the first VR engagement?! Maybe we will be the first couple to really be VR Married

We took some nice pictures; Barcelona is really gorgeous, we will put them in this thread or the gallery at some point.

Wow, thanks for such a nice bunch of replies

Everyone has been very kind, with nice texts, presents and so on. I should get engaged more often, it's pretty cool.

Barcelona was brilliant; without doubt the best place I've ever been. Can't wait to go back there and we've only been home for a few hours

I proposed to Sarah on the balcony of our hotel room which looked over the stunning Barcelona skyline... the views there are amazing... it took Sarah by surprise just a tad anyway

Congratulations (that's quite unoriginal isn't it?)

Although you're not the first VR engagement, I can think of at least two others, although neither of them made it as far as the church so there's still a first in there for ya

Truley fantastic news. I've been waiting for this, and I was hoping it would happen in Barcelona. It would have been silly to go all the way there and then have the proposition over tea at one of your houses. Not that I think tea at either of your houses would be bad, but Barcelona.

I'm happy for you both, and in a way where I'm not just saying that. I'm smiling as I type - congratualtions

All the best luck with stuff. You both go well together. You know that though, otherwise you wouldn't be getting married

Woo!

I like an escalator because an escalator can never break, it can only become stairs. There would never be an "Escalator temporarily out of order" sign, only an "Escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience."

My sister's fiancé took her over to Rome to celebrate their 5th anniversary, and all her workmates were like 'HE'S GOING TO PROPOSE!' No proposal, apparently it was one morning whilst they were still in bed and just chatting that he did it.

Anyways, it's lovely news, and on a balcony overlooking the view?? Damn, Martin, you propose well! Lucky Sarah!

Wowsers!!! This is ace news, I'm so glad you two are so happy and getting married, you make a really great couple even though I've never met either of you!

I really do hope you have a hugely happy and fun life together, full of sexy sex, presents and all that love shizzle. Nice one, guys

BTW, you see the Nou Camp, Martian? If so, what's it like in the flesh?
I hope some day, for some reason, David Duchovny is investigated by the FBI. Because that would make a great story.

Thanks everyone We'll be the first to make it to the church for def (I'd kill Martin otherwise :p !)

The engagement was lovely. I thought Barcelona would be the ideal spot for the job but I wasn't sure it would happen and I didn't know when or where....So it was a big shock when we arrived at the hotel and were looking out on our balcony and I turned round and Martin was down on one knee!!!!

Alex- We saw Nou Camp from the Bus Touristic (That's tour bus, for those who don't speak spanish like us ) but Martin didn't think it was that impressive from the outside- Just a big building with a badge on.

My ring is perfect. It is really delicate with a white gold band and a half carat diamond that really sparkles. I can't stop looking at it and moving my hand in the light to watch all the sparkliness!!!!

Congratulations or felicitations as they say in Spain!

Nice choice by the way, Barcelona is second on my list of "places I would like to be proposed to in" which I made up for the purpose of this post. Did you go to the Park Guell? I love that place.

The Nou Camp is weird. It's the most bizarre stadium I've ever been to. They don't allocate seats, or or do security checks. So I wander along a row and pick a seat, only to find, 2 seconds later, a Real Sociedad fan sitting beside me...he must surely have sneaked in the home fans area to cause trouble? No no, as I look around, I see various ones dotted around the place, minding their own business, sometimes even chatting to the Barcelona fans! Then I am tapped on the shoulder by a scary man who starts gabbling in Catalan words to the effect of "I am a season ticket holder, I like this seat. Please get off it." I think that's what he said. I moved to another seat without causing a fuss anyway, and was left in peace. Then on the way back to the bus the wee pests on their mopeds try and run over as many folk as they can in one go. I think it's a recognised sport.
[/ irrelevant Barcelona story ]

Anyhoo, I hope you live forever, happily and stuff and as chief - person who has nothing to do with this, I command Martin to wear a kilt.

Scorching News

And Barcelona absolutely is the most fantastic city ever, well done Martin on your choice of destination

Congratulations to you both anyway, hope it all continues to be perfick for you both All the best.

Personally, i find a trip to the Olympic stadium more exciting than Nou Camp, its set in a lovely park area behind some big art gallery/mansion thing on top of the city. Go there next time your in Barcelona
When you get here, the Welcome To This Town sign, it scares little kids with it's skulls and it's gore
When you leave here, the Get The Hell Out sign is well kept and pretty with floral decor

I'd definitely agree; we saw the Olympic Stadium too and it looked more impressive than the Nou Camp by far.
