Little Blue Fox. - Hope is important.

Hope is important.

Do you like any Christmas songs at-all?
Do you think they are really ruined becuase they are really played too much. Do you think Christmas songs are bad becuase they are really fake and forced?
Do you like "Mad World" or "The JCB Song", and also do you like Mr Blobby and Chocolate Salty Balls?

It hurts too much not to try.
I will see you in another life when we are both cats.

Colin -

I like Mad World, but find Gary Jules' quite saccharine, and prefer the original song. It's not a Christmas song by any means.
Though still very sickly, the best commercial songs on the standard Christmas playlist are The Pogues' and maybe Wizzard's (Don't quote me on that. I've not heard it this year and I'm glad). Oh, and is Last Christmas on there? Though I don't like the instrumentation, it's a half-decent song.
More alternative choices:
Reuben - Christmas is Awesome
Jonathan Coulton - Chiron Beta Prime

And choose a small few Motown ones.

Mancomb Seepgood - Grog me.

Grog me.

The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping

One of the best bass lines going.

And Saint Etienne's, though that doesn't really have much to do with Christmas apart from its title.

Less standard ULTIMATE XMAS EVAR!!! ones:

Sufjan - That Was the Worst Christmas Ever
Eels - Everything's Gonna Be Cool This Christmas
The Fall - Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Tom Waits - Silent Night/Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis
Belle and Sebastian - O Come, O Come Emmanuel
Low - Just Like Christmas
James Brown - Merry Xmas (I Love You)
Frank Sidebottom - Christmas is Really Fantastic
Death Cab - It's Christmas Baby, Please Come Home
Weezer - O Come All Ye Faithful
And anything from Brian Wilson's brilliant Christmas album.
