Emptiness

Staring blankly at a TV screen,
Sound rebounds.
It will not penetrate my frozen mind.
In truth, nothing is
Wrong, nothing is
Right. Only a
Void filled with emptiness exists.
It is not me who watches.
A ghost has stolen my soul
And left me
Alone to cry.

Breaking Free

The black sky hangs above
The world. On tenderhooks, building
Suspense until it will explode.
Hundreds of people. Below. Waiting.
For the bomb.
Never to know when it will go, but they
Know it will eventually.
Light is present. Yellow hope
Above grey blankets of doom,
Tries to break free like a prisoner,
Making the scene more sinister
and the pressure mounts.
Silence.
Then one escapes.
Just one at first but more follow.
Each time becoming more brave as they
Batter and
Torture.
There is no stopping them, it is impossible.
They carry on consistently and only
Stop when they decide.
Never before.
