right. does anyone know how legit this lot are or whether it is just more vanity publishing, i always assumed that poetry.com was pretty prestigious. but i have just recieved an email sayign that i have been nominated to be in the best of poetry and poets 2004. now, i cna't seeh ow i (as much as i'd love ot think i am the best at everything) could have been in that so has anyone had dealings with em or know anything?

i had stuff under about six different names and each got sent the same email. you do get a nice book and stuff and are technically then a published writer but essentially it is a scam

rite, i've been published two or three times but me nad my friend who faber and faber took interest in (and reads here occasionally, usually when i beat him with my big stick) have agreed that it is vanity pulishing.

Hahaha, mine's on there, I didn't even sign the thing saying they could because I co-wrote it and only submitted it because it was part of the quiz they were doing.

Bob- I got e-mails inviting me to 'Poet of The Year' conventions too. I'm not saying that they';re not genuine, but the poem of mine that would have been looked at isn't that great. Most of the time these websites put the majority of submitted poems into a book and then try to get as many people as they think will buy it to do so for huge amounts of money.

Doesn't mean that your poetry isn't deserving, because it is, but I'd question how genuine the site is.

I actually have a book I bought (technically I didn'yt buy it but someone did on my 'behalf' ) from them with my poem in it - complete rip off. I only stopped getting mail from them recently about the conventions with 'celebrity' guests such as Montel.
