Caged Liberty - Torrential high seas dragged me to my knees

Torrential high seas dragged me to my knees

Halfway Down

Halfway down the stairs
Is a stair
Where I sit
There isn't any
Other stair
Quite like
It.

I'm not at the bottom,
I'm not at the top;
So this is the stair
Where
I always
Stop.

Halfway up the stairs
Isn't up,
And isn't down.
It isn't in the nursery,
It isn't in the town.
And all sorts of funny thoughts
Run around my head;
"It isn't really
Anywhere!
It's somewhere else
Instead!"

Flapdoodle - TO THE SEA...

TO THE SEA...

i remember this poem!! i loved winnie the pooh (the original books and stuff- like when we were 6..... my youngest sister nbever understood about this and was bought up on disney.) this poem used to be my poem as there is a specific step in my house that i sit on which was halfway up the stairs and in the way of everyone- but i could see what was going on in most places of the house- well i couldnt but i liked to pretend i could!

Keziah

I have a secret place to go.
Not anyone may know.

And sometimes when the wind is rough
I cannot get there fast enough

And sometimes when my mother
Is scolding my big brother,

My secret place, it seems to me,
Is quite the only place to be.

Singing-Time

I wake in the morning early
And always, the very first thing,
I poke out my head and I sit up in bed
And I sing and I sing and I sing.

Holding Hands

Elephanys walking
Along the trails

Are holding hands
By holding tails

Trunks and tails
Are handy things

When elephants walk
In circus rings.

Elehants work
And elephants play.

And elephants walk
And feel so gay.

And when they walk -
It never fails

They're holding hands
By holding tails.

A Spike of Green

When I went out
The sun was hot,
It shone upon
My flower pot.

And there I saw
A spike of green
That no one else
Had ever seen!

On other days
The things I see
Are mostly old
Except for me.

But this green spike
So new and small
Had never yet
Been seen at all!

Some cat poems

The House Cat

The House Cat sits
And smiles and sings.
He knows a lot
Of secret things.

Annette Wynne

Cat Kisses
Sandpaper kisses
on a cheek or a chin -
that is the way
for a day to begin!

Sandpaper kisses -
a cuddle, a purr.
I have an alarm clock
that's covered with fur.

Bobbi Katz

At Night

When night is dark
my cat is wise
to light the lanterns
in his eyes.

Aileen Fisher

Mother Cat's Purr

Sleep the half-sleep,
Kittens dear,
While your mother
Cat-naps near.

Every kitten
Is a cat,
And you must
Remember that

Naps for cats
Are mostly fake:
Any time
Is time to wake,

Or time to pounce,
Or tiem to scat.
That's what sleep is -
For a cat.

The Little Turtle

There was a little turtle.
He lived in a box.
He swam in a puddle.
He climbed on the rocks.

He snapped at a mosquito.
He snapped at a flea.
He snapped at a minnow.
And he snapped at me.

He cought the mosquito.
He caught the flea.
He caught the minnow.
But he didn't catch me.

The Toad

I met a little woman
who was going up a hill,
and when she wasn't hopping,
she sat extremely still.

She hadn't any neck at all,
she hadn't any chin,
and opened wide her great big mouth
and snapped a young fly in.

She seemed to be good-natured,
and friendly as can be,
for when she swallowed down the fly,
she winked her eye at me.

Oh, I have the books(Whinnie the Pooh and When We Were Very Young, Now we are Six). They were great. I haven't read them in ages though.
