will it so that they've edited the post?

If the post is edited within five minutes of it being made originally, then no 'edit' will show.

After five minutes, however, and it will say 'last edited by..'

The five minute mark can change but it seems to work well as it is.

I'm fairly sure if a mod or admin edits a post it will show regardless of the amount of time since posting, though I'm more than willing to admit I might be wrong on this.

Nah, it's 5 minutes regardless. But I'm sure no Mods would edit a post without telling the poster why anyway, unless it's just a minor code edit (eg. fixing of quote tags which annoys me a tiny bit).

Nah, 'tis deffo 5 minutes whether it's a mod editing or not, although if you're suggesting that it shouldn't be like that, then I would probably agree.

I actually like it not showing for 5 minutes after the post is made. Means I can correct typos without looking silly.

But, I thought it was kinda standard for mods to make a note at the bottom of the post saying if they edited and why... *shrugs*

I doubt anyone will misuse mod powers to the extent that you suspect, Sammy. VR's not that sort of forum.
