I sort of use another forum where threads are never locked and it's insane. They have a spam thread which is up to 2630 pages, it's rather annoying and I never read it. Maybe there is a more technical reason?
They also have adverts at the bottom of the page, I think it's taken for granted that there are no ads on VR
