Who should Englands final representative be if UEFA don't allow Liverpool to defend the Champions League?

well, if Uefa dont allow Liverpool to defend the title then it'll be Everton in the Champions league, but I know what you mean. You mean should Uefa let Liverpool in. I personally dont think so. This happened before a good few years ago, I cant remember to who, but they paid Real Zaragoza to let them take their place. That wont happen now though, as the Champions League is worth a lot more money now, and Liverpool aint exactly Chelsea, even with the cash prize for winning the Champions League. So I think we'll see Everton there next year

I still think its bloody stupid that the team that finishes 4th gets the chance to compete in the first place.

they need 32 teams to make up enough group stages. No point having only the top 3 teams from england go through and the top 5 from Spain

I don't see why this is even a debate. The rules were submitted at the start of the season. If Liverpool were intent on being in next years champions league, they shouldn't have played f*cking diabolical most of the season and finished 5th. Everton beat them to 4th place fair and square.

And I agree with Joel

Agreed. I'd switch it back to winners only myself. But then, that won't happen because of the impact it'd have on TV revenue.

As for the bin dippers, they finished 5th (37 points behind Chelsea) and as such, they do not deserve to be in the competition next year. There's no way Everton should make way for them, either.

I think so, I'm not entirely sure whats happening with that as they seem to just make up the rules down the pub. It's in Japan sometime this year.

Not to be confused with the World Club Cup, which is a one-off game between them and the South American champions, in Tokyo, early next year.

To be fair it's harder to knock out Juventus, Chelsea, Milan, Leverkusen, Olypiakos, etc and win the Champions League than it is to finish 4th in the Premeirship beating the likes of Blackburn, Southampton, Charlton, Villa , West Brom, etc. I think the FA were trying to pull a quick one by giving Everton the final place, hoping that if Liverpool won the Champions League, they could con an extra Champions League place out of UEFA.

I think they just plain didn't expect Liverpool to win and thought all the talk about it was going to turn out to be over nothing. Even when they got to the final, it was still favourable for Milan to win it. To an extent, I agree with this:

Well, if it's so easy to beat Premiership sides, how come Liverpool didn't? The rules are simple, and Liverpool failed to qualify from a weak Premiership. Fair play to them for winning it, but they simply weren't good enough in the league this year. Everton finished 4th, fair and square. It's a bit of a joke the 4th placed team qualifies, but still.

And I honestly don't think the FA could have foreseen a Liverpool win in the Champions League. That lot can barely tie their own shoelaces.

oh yeah, unquestionably. give the younger players time to gel and get a bit better and we might have a better chance, but as things stand we have too many sh*t squad players making the first team and until they're filtered out we're going to have problems. the older players perform on their day, but their day doesnt come round as often as it used to.

I don't see anything other than a good few years of Chelsea domination, unfortunately. Hopefully Abramovich will get bored sooner rather than later, though.

As for United, I think big changes are required. Our squad is full of absolute sh*te (Miller, Kleberson, Bellion, Phil 'Pele' Neville, Fletcher) while a replacement for Keane is desperately required, as well as a new keeper who is actually worthy of the shirt. Problem is, there's no money.

But at least we've got rid of Roy Carroll.

Can't believe we (Villa) got conned into buying Djemba-Djemba, he's awful
I think if you buy a descent keeper, Paul Robinson for instance, you can build a team from there. Not a United fan, but I don't think any English club should be brought by somebody like Glazer, just to make them themselves even richer.

Fletcher is dismal. No pace, no strength and precious little skill. Goes missing in every single game. Can't decide whether he's at Djemba's level though. Not many players are.

Surely everyone would agree that if UEFA grant Liverpool a 5th place in next season's competition then fair enough, but no way should that place be at Everton's expense.

It's simple kick out the champions of Wales or Northern Ireland and let Liverpool take their place and they can have Liverpools spot in the UEFA Cup, plus a million quid as a sweatner.

They shouldn't, in my opinion. It's ridiculous. In principal I can understand it, one side has more chance of progressing further than the other, but both sides were aware of the criteria they had to meet at the start of the season. Just because Liverpool produced countless inept performances in their league campaign, it doesn't mean they should take the place of a team that earned the right to qualify for the champions league on merit.

Dismantling a person is sometimes necessary...

It annoys me right up does this...the rules for last season were set out from the start of last season and 'pool knew they'd only be able to qualify for next season's champions league via a top four finish...I thoroughly agree that the defending champions should be able to defend their title in the following season, but the rules were laid down and I genuinally believe that you should play to those rules, despite them being stupid.

Lucky b*ggers.
I hope some day, for some reason, David Duchovny is investigated by the FBI. Because that would make a great story.
