Me and a few other people have been discussing this, which venue do other people who are likely to come think would be best?

Blackpool in the summer is possibly the worst place in the world. Trust me on that one. I'm sure Jenny will vouch for the same claim too.

There are loads of Meets in Manchester, I'm led to believe. Blackpool in the summer has been discredited my Martin, and Lancaster is too close to where my "aunt" lives.

I'm interested yes, but anywhere is fine

What a wasted post.

It's perhaps unfair to call it the worst place in the world during summer, but after 19 years here, I can be quite confident. It's good if you like the place covered with loud mouthed drunks by 12pm, endless queues EVERYWHERE and just general mess. Plenty of 'attractions' if you've not been before, like the pleasure beach, but they're not the cheapest of places.

Night life, however, is exceptional, but half the vr-ers on here probably won't be out on the p*ss at night. I'd be up for the night time, but not the day time.

So does that mean the meet's in Lancaster and then back to Martin's house for a p*ss up? ;-)

I really don't mind - I can imagine Blackpool being busy and crowded but it could still be fun. I've only ever spent 30 mins of my life there though, and that was in the evening last Augaust I think. It did seem busy, but that was outside "Blackpool's only male stripper club". I can see that being a popular place...

I'm up for anywhere so long as I can get there by train as I've said before.

I like an escalator because an escalator can never break, it can only become stairs. There would never be an "Escalator temporarily out of order" sign, only an "Escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience."

We could always have a Salford meet, Martin.

You only think that because you live there. For people who hardly ever or have never been there it's a different matter. I don't go to Blackpool regularly but it's nearby and I think it'd be a good place for some really childish fun.

I see you neglected to inform readers of Blackpool's fantastical night life

I am actually going to go against you Martin and vouch for Blackpool. Childish fun. Yes. Plenty of things to do too, even if we all just go donw to the beach or the pleasure beach. VR at the top of the tower? I think so!

Yeay I'm glad Jen knows what I'm thinking

The idea of Blackpool's growing on me even more now. Maybe just because it's sunny outside, but I want a VR meet on a beach damnit!

*mutters something about any where else still being OK though, and that he won't go to Blackpool on his own if everyone else goes to Manchester as that would just be silly*

I cant stand Blackpool, no offence to its inhabitants, but its not very nice.

not wrong there. an offence to its inhabitants is saying its good. like we should be proud of the sh*t hole. as soon as i can leave, i bloody well shall.

although i'll stop moaning about it in this thread, sorry all. i agree it has potentially good reasons for a meet, if you've not been before.

The date shouldn't be a problem for me at least - my new job seems pretty relaxed about how much notice to give and the whole shift swapping thing. Would it be in the week or the weekend though? I'm guessing we'd be keeping the Saturday tradition?

And Manchester works well - 2 hours total journey time by train with just one change. I'm liking the sound of that

OK THEN. I've just rediscovered this thread. oops.

Seems like Manchester is most definitly the most popular venue. Personally I wouldn't know how to organise a meet at Manchester because I don't know the place well enough. But if someone else wants to volunteer to organise it I will try my best to turn up, if I bring a friend I should be allowed to go.

So who would like to organise some kind of meet thing in Manchester?

I'll try to come if someone else organises it all. I can't think of any dates that would be a problem except for 2nd July, 8th August (my bday) and 18th August because those dates are definitly occupied.

why doesnt someone construct a simple database that we can all input the dates we are available into, and make it do some simple calculations to find the date that most users have entered?
