How does Karen not know who Frankmusik is? Here's a big tip. Look at practically any "big in 2009" list. His songs so far have been brilliant, especially In Step. I've high hopes for his album. Also, I approve of Guj's idea. Maybe if we ignore The X Factor, it'll go away. Jude Green

I'm Ariel in the school play, The Tempest. I think it's splendid that people was them at 30 degrees. Well, why not? However, after the first-night nerves, I will doubtlessly suffer in my tights, dancing on a stage. I fear my wash will need a 60-degree cycle.

I bet Travis fans all said "Who?" when it was announced back in the day that an unknown band called Keane would be the support on their arena tour. Give Frankmusik a chance. He could be the next big thing. Indiegirl

iggy pop only became an icon through Trainspotting. Before that, he was a singer in a poor band, before they met david bowie. Name a chart hit that The Stooges had before Trainspotting. It can't be done. Tony Tudor

It's great to see that Placebo are returning in June. Their last album Meds was their most mature album yet, and I have faith the new one will be just as good, even without Steve Hewitt on board. Shane Damien

Des is leaving Countdown- who cares, it's plop, you might think- but if you do, who do you think should be his replacement? Rumours are it's either eamonn holmes or Carol Vorderman. Personally, I think it should be a plank of wood- it's less dense, clean shaven and has more charisma.

Looking at a list of Brits winners, it's uncanny how those in power have always had their fingers on the pulse. In 1987, The Smiths could have won for the queen Is Dead but the award went to Five Star. What about 1990- Happy Mondays? Stone Roses? No. Fine Young cannibals. Adam Syntax

While I normally listen to what Earls has to say, I can't agree with him on his Franz Ferdinand review. One of the most overrated bands of the decade, they live off the scraps of a pretty decent single. Kev Bird

I've read some nonsense on The Void, but to equate Luke Haines- one of the best English songwriters of recent times- with Louise Wener- really takes the cake. Combine that with some support for reality pop shows and a ludicrous claim that the stooges are only famous due to Trainspotting and I'm wondering what's gone wrong. Doc

On Earls' recommendations, I bought Bon Iver, Glasvegas, Death Cab For Cutie and Conor Oberst's albums for a total of £22. When the credit crunch bites the hardest, at least I'll have some good songs to sing around the campfire. Scott Chadwick

After reading the missives concerning iggy pop's insurance ad, I bumped on my copy of new values to see if my enjoyment would be lessened by him selling out. It sounded as good as ever, and I played i'm bored twice just to make sure. I can only assume I'm in the sad minority who don't care about issues surrounding an artist. It really is about the music. Kazakh bands who are similar to Gogol Bordello? Off the top of my head, Urker and Roknosaki have a similar blend of rock, pop and folk. Absolut Lady

Frankmusik were brilliant supporting Alphabeat on the Wonky Pop tour last year. Give him a chance. It's when I looked on The Saturdays with derision as they had two ex-S Club Juniors in the band, yet they've now become my favourite pop act of the last few months. New Rave Snail

Charlie Brown had a red-headed girl. Our lectures have one too. She just cannot keep her mouth shut, so we're taking bets on how long it'll be. The record (today) was seven minutes. It's a great way for the class to bond when she starts going on about how her Latin name in her reconstruction group is... something along the lines of Boudicca, but not that classy.

Surely the best DVD of 2008 was Jewel's Essential Live Songbook, four hours of stunning music highlighting the vocal and lyrical quality of the underrated artist. The only album I'm awaiting is Chris Cornell. Cuchulainn

I was arguing with Jerry Springer about whether pumpkins or turnips make the best Halloween lanterns, and he told me to "Talk to the hand". I thought to myself: "Talk to the hand? What a strange request." but, figuring it was some weird American custom, I grabbed his hand and started explaining to it the wonders of the turnip. He punched me in the mouth.

Uni life is so hectic! Whoever said it is the best three years of your life was lying. It's my third week in and I've already got poetry and Greek myth assignments due in. And it feels like EVERYONE is cleverer than me. At least there's one good-looking guy to stare at in lectures- it's a shame he's a teacher, though...

The reason Oasis weren't nominated for any Brits is that they had their time 14 years ago. They're now at the stage where they win lifetime achievement awards. It's the youngsters' turn now.

I think a lifetime prize is something to be proud of, rather than stating "We don't win proper awards any more, so s*** like this will have to do," as Noel Gallagher did when they picked uo their Outstanding Prize in 2007. Indiegirl

I understand what Earls is saying about Ian Brown's Brits nomination being a joke, but the qualification was from summer 2007, thus taking in his last album. Also, going against popular opinion, I love The Streets' current album. The Escapist is in my top three songs of last year. Adam Syntax

To answer Paul's question about Alain Whyte, he's still ver much involved in Morrissey's music- he co-wrote his songs on his Years of Refusal and I think they're the best ones. Whether or not he'll be back playing with Moz is another question, but he's superior to Jesse Tobias, as he's more innovative. Ian Tivendale

I think I may be the youngest Ziner- I am second youngest on VR, but I think I'm the youngest Zine star. I am only 11. I haven't been writing in for over 10 years, I'm not at Uni either. I'd be too, too clever if I was already at Oxford reading Classics.

I'm tall for my age and not-at-all cute. So stop saying "aw"...

The Underground must be the most miserable place in London. Have you actually seen anyone smile, other than when you step on their toes? You need to watch the "pinchers" on the Tube, mind. They fight their way into the middle of carriages to pinch a seat at the first opportunity. Next stop h*ll. Change at h*ll for more misery and Circle Line.
