Retro '80s Flash remembered

Jim- The Flash was turned into a movie in the late '80s or early '90s there was a sequel and a TV series based on the movies. Anyone looking forward to Saw 6? Ryan, Belfast

The song passenger by iggy pop is on the Trainspotting OST, but I didn't hear it while watching the film again last night- did I miss it or is it not actually in the film? Great film though. Faris, Putney

Did Mr Pink get away or not?

Rizza- I know Mr Pink is confronted by the police as shots are fired. But he may not have got away. He was pretty handy with his guns earlier on in the film. I guess we'll never know if he got away or not. Matthew, Islandmagee

Film 2009 has always been messed around in late timeslots, even in Barry Norman's day. As for Kermode, you should watch his weekly 5live review podcast. Even if you don't agree with him, he knows his stuff! MJ, Belfast

Bring back blood-thirst drac!

It's time there was a new dracula movie. Not a love story- a real horror! Filmed in black and white, except for one colour- red. Have it remain faithful to Bram Stoker's novel like the 1992 film. dracula should be an evil monster not yearning for love. Neil, Sedgley

Will- if the film you saw ends with David Bradley's Billy Casper burying the eponymous Kes, then no, it hasn't been cut short. Matth, Wakefield

Quotations of the week

"A few people recognised me, but I told them my name was Isabelle." Shakira studied in secret at university in Los Angeles after her world tour in 2007.

"It'd wake the viewers up. F*** GMTV." Calvin Harris, angry that GMTV refused to have him on as he's "too dancey".

"Her boobs are great. I shouldn't have said that, should I?" Mitch Winehouse praises his daughter's £35, 000 breast operation.

1/6.

4/6.

Champs of the week

Liam Maher Farewell to Flowered Up's singer. Their sole album was patchy, but Weekender remains one of the best, most chaotic dance songs of its time, the equal of Loaded. RIP.

The Rakes And farewell to them too, thankfully in happier circumstances. Klang is one of the most underrated albums of the year, so it's no wonder they got dissilussioned and called it a day when the world failed to fall for its charms.

5/6.

Chumps of the week

Bon Jovi Congratulations if you live outside of London, button down the hatches if you're stuck in the capital next summer they descend on the 02 for a residency.

Marc Marot Joining the creepy rise of nanny state governance typified by the BBC Trust, the ex-Island boss wants record labels to intervene when artists get drug problems. That'll be the same Island that was formed off the back of bob marley, yes? Hmm.

The Brits...

... are the biggest farce ever. How exactly did The darkness manage to beat Busted in the Best Group category, or whatever it was?

And what was the point in creating the Best Rock category? It would have been easier just saying, Here you go, The Darkness, we're giving you an award for no reason. I've nothing against them, but why have so many people got their heads stuck up their backsides?

Trainspotting's soundtracks

Faris, Putney- There are two soundtracks for the Trainspotting film. The second soundtrack only has songs that were either used as inspiration or didn't make the cut. 'passenger' by iggy pop is one of the ones that didn't make it. It is a good song, though. Alexis, Glasgow

Jury is out on Saw 6

Saw VI? I'm not sure, although I love the Swa films, I'm a massive fan of 1-4 anyway. Saw V was a let down for the scares, but for the clever endings and when that music kicks in, it sends a shiver down my spine.

Did anyone else notice that in Saw V, Jigsaw's wife was one of the suppposed victims, she was wearing a wig. And what ws in that box Jigsaw gave her? Dave, Wrexham

I'm not in the habit of lying, for if one lies and one has to lie and lie again to cover the dishonesty.

I pulled zero in the first six months of 2003. I pulled 72 in the last six months. It's amazing what a difference becoming confident can make.

So far this year I've pulled nine. I used to be a loser. Is it wrong to feel good about myself?

The defence of Halloween 2

In defence of Halloween 2, I am sure it looked good on paper with some nice touches, but it's just poorly filmed. michael myers as a hoodie is chilling but not the look we all love, and the decision to make Dr Loomis an egomaniac is just a huge mistake. Please, no Halloween 3 in 3D. Damo, Lewes

Is Jason just rubbish?

Pete, Aston- Films like Jason And The Argonauts, Clash of The Titans, Sinbad are rubbish. When you're a kid, they're fun but the special FX are like Art Attack, plus how many times can you watch them? Nina, London

I've watched District 9, not the best but watchable. Can't wait to see The Fourth Kind but has anybody seen Communion? Christopher Walken stars and it's brilliant stuff. Popeye, Liverpool

His Dark Materials

I've just been to see His Dark Materials at the National Theatre- what a play! Even better than the books!

I mean, where else can you see witches, armoured bears, dust, gobblers, demons, harpies, an alethiometer, purple-clad churchmen and lots of daed dudes?

Well maybe WLW Towers...

The Wonky Gnome

No-one dead here yet...

Devil in the detail

Andy, doncaster- One of the Laurel and Hardy films missing is comic opera Fra Diavolo, also known as The Devil's Brother. I haven't seen this film for years but I remember Stan getting drunk while trying to stop a barrel of beer leaking. Also, Bonnie Scotland and Flying Deuces are missing. Maybe Amazon can help. Peter, Saxmundham

Is Reuben, Reuben starring Tom Conti ever coming out on DVD? David, leeds

Now Don't Be Greedy

I am well aware that (thankfully) Valentine's Day is over and the shops and their friends are needing a new product to champion, and Easter IS only round the corner after all, lurking with intent.

Don't allow yourselves to be smitten by all the tasty goodness- it is bad for your teeth! Easter, like Christmas, has gone the way of the weasel and I want no part in it. Mini-eggs are OK though.

The Suited Stranger

Easter means lots of chocolate. Feel free to send me eggs (boiled).

Just what is missing from Kes?

Will- You're right, the DVD of Kes has been cut by seven minutes but I'm not sure why or where the cuts occur. It's still a brilliant film though. Rob, Southend

Matt, Lincs- Films that never fail to make ,me blub are as follows: The Railway Children, Goodbye, Mr Chips and Inn of The Sixth Happiness. Martyn, Lincoln

Devil's Chair has mad ending

Adam- Couple of good loony films to check out are Brit movie The Devil's Chair, the ending is mad, and also Bad Boy Buddy is just crazy. Jim, Portsmouth

Anyone care to tell whether The Hangover is worth buying when it comes out on DVD in December? Missed it when it came out at cinemas and have heard varying reports on it since. Michael, Exeter

Theory

You know those utterly pointless time-wasting "personality questionnaires" you get sent over e-mail, well, who started these things?

I'm convinced it was the Government trying to keep tabs on us all by wanting to know things like our shoe size, fave ice cream flavour, season, emotion and tree. It's all a giant conspiracy! Yes, I did like the X-Files when I was younger.

Desperate

Dizzy: "Some of the girls on here seem rather desperate."
Dotty: "It's WLW's after-shave, it drives them wild."
Dizzy: "You said WLW is a female."
Dotty: "He is."
Dizzy: "Then why is she wearing after-shave lotion?"
Dotty: "It was a Christmas present."

'Zine Website

On an idle jaunt through cyberspace last week, I typed Zine into a search engine and was astonished to find a whole wealth of websites devoted to our beloved pages.

After perusing said websites, I have come to the conclusion that the page run by Insane Jam Sow is by far the best. This is based upon many stringent test criteria, plus I really like the background colour. Kudos to you, Sow!
