Chapel Club deserve success

Thanks to PS for the Chapel Club interview. Any band that can sing "Bodies swinging in the sycamore trees/ Dream a little dream of me" on their debut single and get away with it deserves more exposure. Nicko

Perhaps one of the farewell features on PS should be a rundown of all the albums given 10/10 rating. That'd be a pretty short feature... Vegi

Today Is Not My Day

Today, I did the following:

* Impaled my foot on a hairbrush when getting out of bed.
* Accidentally drank dandelion and bleurgh-dock instead of Coke.
* Spilt curry down my (white) shirt at work.

I think I'd better go to bed.

The Little Silver Moonbaby

Borrell's Libertines claim laughable

Johnny Borrell's claim that he hellped The Libertines make it is laughable. Everyone knows he deserted them in their hour of need. Bradders

Earls' feature on setting up his new record label WET was written with the same open, all-welcoming passion for music that Planet Sound has offered since I can remember. You'll be sadly missed, and I wish everyone involved all the very best for the future. Neil Condron

What Is Going On?

I was in the kitchen tonight, looking for something that I could eat, and I stumbled across something strange... peaches pickled in PEAR juice.

My question is why? Isn't peach juice juice good enough for peaches? Is there a worldwide peach juice shortage? Help me, WLW! It looks like a peach and tastes like a pear. I'm confused and my head is hurting.

Best shock ending is No Way Out. It's an underrated gem from way back when Costner could do no wrong. Nicko, Derby

Winter

Am I the only person who likes winter? It's brilliant! You get to wear a really thick coat and a woolly hat and maybe even gloves. Then, when you're all prepared, you step outside and it's you against the rain. It gives me the opportunity to put my hood on without looking stupid.

1 There are no droughts in Manc.
2 It gave the world The Smiths, The Stone Roses, New Order, joy division and Take That.

To qualify as Album of The Decade, a record must be seen to transcend its genre and exude brilliance in the same way as The Stone Roses, Screamadelica or Astral Weeks. Some suggestions so far by Voiders merely exude tedium and mediocrity.

The only albums from the '00s to match such exalted company are Arcade Fire's Funeral, MIA's Kala and Demon Days by Gorrilaz. All are 10/10 albums that are endlessly inventive. Dr Barratt

My Many Wise Years

I've learnt a few things in my 16 years of life and they are-

* Never listen to anyone who says "Trust me, I know what I'm doing"
* There ysn't a man on the corner who eats children
* Sitting too close to the TV doesn't give you square eyes
* My friend's mum can't fly like she said

I was shocked to see The Fratellis' second album Here We Stand being sold in Poundland. This is a band who, not so long ago, were headlining festivals. It says so much about the throwaway culture of the public, as so many second albums flop because what's cool today isn't cool tomorrow. It's sad, in both senses. Wide Awake Walrus

My Half Term

As you would expect with holiday camps, there was a traditional kids' talent show. Highlights were:

1 at kids jumping up and down to that annoying whistle song
2 Kid wearing Scream mask doing Michael Jackson (complete with groin grope)
3 Kid with trombone/ trumpet (not good enough for me to remember)
4 Girl who started crying so couldn't sing her song

It was much better than Popstars!

Mick Hucknall replacing Rod Stewart in The Faces isn't as strange as it might first appear, as he's only made one decent album (Vagabond Heart) since 1972. He was the real deal for his first four albums, but then became a media tart and is now just a karaoke singer. Paul Rodgers would be more suited than he was for Queen.

As for Christmas songs, check out Cool Christmas, a '90s compilation that had Tom Waits, Bjork, The MGs... R Gibbard

Sharing The Anxiety

I feel the need to tell you about my new French teacher, Mr C. Everyone fancies him, but thankfully not me. I just like his shirt. But that's not the point. The point is, that as well as being the only male teacher in a girls' school AND being French he also decided to be really hip and cool and get his eyebrow pierced. But it got infected and now his eyebrow is all swollen and red and he can't put anything in it.

He's a comic genius, isn't he? You can keep your Peter Kay and The Office. I'll settle for Tim's masterful one lines, such as "I had a cat called Minton, he swallowed a shuttlecock. Bad Minton."

I've just seen Spider-Man 2. It's a good movie, but apart from a few short scenes, Spider-Man was hardly in it. Most of the film is about Peter Parker and when Toby did put on thec suit, the producers kept finding reasons for him to take his mask off. Chris, Welwyn

The shock ending I treasure is a disguised Sylvester Stallone's gun-toting cop in Nighthawks, turning to face Rutger Hauer's knife-wielding terrorist, completely catchinh him by surprise. Love it! Tony, Salisbury

Intriguing opening

One line in a film that has always intrigued me is in the first few minutes of Duel. Whilst Dennis Weaver is ambling along, the DJ on the radio asks the phone-in guy what he does and he says "I play meat". Cosmic! Phillipe-Jerome, Yorkshire

Best comedies: In Bruges, Bad Santa, Anchorman, Full Monty, Life of Brian, Bad Taste, Borat, Kenny, The Moguls, Looking For Eric. Sniper, Sheffield

Reasons why fingerless gloves were invented

1 So students could make roll ups on the bus
2 So orchestras could play outside in Siberia
3 So people could have warm hands AND fingers!

Those are the ones I can think of, so it's definitely one of the three.

Number two has my vote.

Vortex- Does anyone remember the movie mini-series The Martian Chronicles starring the late rock hudson, based on the Ray Bradbury book following man's attempt to colonise Mars? Does anyone know when it will be released on region two DVD? Stu, Stockport

Ace

By the time this gets screened the odds are that Club 140 will be no longer exist and will be known as "Ace".

Well, keep the Zine as the Zine! We have already survived one change from Generator and we don't want another one. Power to the Ziners and all that gubbins!

I share your obsession! I know this isn't a good way to introduce myself into the world of Zine, but I have to let it out... I love Busted.

I feel it's my duty to marry Matt and you probably all hate me right now but I still love you all!

WLW

I was absolutely DISGUSTED to discover that I, Le Jambon Magnetique, was not nominated in the Greatest Britons vote. Do you know who's in the top 10? William Shakespeare! All his plays have the same ending, and his comedies are as funny as being suspended from a tall building with hooks through your eyes.

I, on the other hand, have invented the pogo stick combined with trumpet for hours of bounce musical fun. I think this qualifies me.

We never cease to amaze

I never thought I would see Ed Wood's cult classic Glen Or Glenda on these pages. It's things like that I'm going to miss about Vortex. Simon, West Moors

Before you finish, could Vortex tell me when, where and how I coukd see Gasper Noe's Enter The Void? My best shock ending- society. Matt, Scunthorpe

The Star Wars films on ITV just remind me how superior the DVD widescreen versions actually are. Stuart, Hardy
