Literally

My feet are literally blocks of ice. I could literally eat you/ put in my pocket. My feet are literally stuck to the floor, and so on. Naturally, there are funnier examples. However, I do implore you all to sign the "Literally Petition" against misuse of this word. It is as bad as abusing children and animals. Anyone who commits this crime will be punished by having their hand literally chopped off.
Elden Ray

I'm literally signing up right now.

The lobsters are back

I am off to the High Arctic armed with my trusty claw hammer. Why does Santa have his operation on the North Pole? I guess it could be the cheap elf labour, the tax breaks and the fact that one day lasts six months. Oh, and if anyone calls me PP again, they'll get me a spanking.

Mighty Max

Do you remember this, WLW? It was about a boy with a baseball cap that opened portals to faraway places, so Max could stop a host of ghosts and monsters. There was an owl called Virgil and a warrior called Norman. Max became Mighty Max when the old Max fell off a cliff. There was also an evil demon that lived in a volcano called Skull Mountain.

So, WLW, did you ever buy the little pocket playsets or buy the magazine?

Nothing To Do

I've finished my last AS Exam which means I now have the summer to fulfil all my dreams like, um, sleeping and, er, watching Kilroy. Life is hard as a student.

Also, my GM weasels have broken as they went nuts and ate all my T-shirts. They're now on sale for the non-negotiable price of £31 per weasel or £32.50 for two. What a bargain. Mr Self-Destruct

I dream of a summer of sleep too, but then I wake up to the nightmare of work.

Annoying Little Sign

OK, picture this. You are driving happily along the motorway with all the lovely trees and fumes, when you see a sign saying Road Works. This is good, you think to yourself, I'm very glad the road works because otherwise I would be pretty stuck.

So you drive along and end up plummeting down a large hole! This isn't good. This isn't clever. Don't think and drive.

It's exam time now but when you print this, if you print this, it won't be. You see, I'm reminding myself now, as in me typing now, of a better time that will come for me in the future, ie no exams, and I'm reminding my future self of worse times to make me feel better about good times.

Where's Wally?

I tried to find him, but I got distracted by a real life Wally who walked past my window.

He had a stripy jumper and a bag with Wally woz ere scrawled on in blue marker pen.

Afterwards I was going to search for Wally again, but decided to just have a bath instead.

University Challenge

When I'm bored, I sometimes watch University Challenge. On Monday, I was playing solitaire and half-listening to the show when Jeremy Paxman announced: "Your next set of questions is on the subject of Metallica."

I was intrigued that a quiz usually asking questions about classical composers and opera was now asking about groups of Metallica. "Which metal has the boiling point of..." I lost interest again.

I have heard this song and I absolutely love it.

It's by Focus and is called Hocus Pocus. It's so cool. It has guitars, drums, whistling and accordions and yodelling.

Bringing it all back home for Christmas

News that Bob Dylan is knocking out a Christmas album fills me with dread. Off the back of his three great recent albums, the thought of Dylan in a turgid video, in a white bushy beard and Santa outfit, miming Little Town of Bethlehem is enough to make me weep. What's next? Dylan sings Doonican? Steve Vallely

Earls: I'd love Dylan to cover Last Christmas, as it's surprisingly easy to imagine how he'd sing that.

It's your funeral for missing the Fire

The Voider who is currently using Neon Bible by Arcade Fire as a coaster has certainly stumbled across the best use for that album. If, however, Big T had spent a couple more quid on their Funeral album, he wouldn't have been disappointed.

Who agrees that The Goonies was one of the best pieces of cinema ever created? The characters are fabulous, the plot enthralling and Sloth just reminds me of the neds in my town.

My favourite was Chunk. The gluttony he displays is utterly endearing.

The Stranger

I saw a woman who was at least as tall as a window ledge and she was probably my age many years ago.

She was dressed entirely in clothes, and had nothing on her feet except a pair of socks and two shoes.

Brown's heart of Stone

Ian Brown refusing to record a song written for him by John Squire on his kids' wishes is a typically graceless move by someone who is a world record holder in bearing a grudge.

I've read plenty of interviews where he's still bitter at Squire for quitting The Stone Roses. That's his prerogative, but he really shouldn't try blaming his kids for his refusal to accept what sounds like an enormous olive branch. Buffy Sainte Alban

Nice one, Brown's kids

Ian Brown should realise that children should be seen and not heard, after refusing to record a song written by John Squire on his sons' advice. It would have been the first Brown/ Squire song in 15 years, and the road to recovery for their friendship- maybe a Stone Roses' reunion too. Matt Hart

As a fan of The Beatles and Dire Straits, I think The Stone Roses' debut is just about perfect- the '60s meets the '90s- before it happened. With the anniversary reissue containing a few classics like Fool's Gold, 20 years on it's still What The World Is Waiting For. Rockman

Did You See That Puff?

I hate the Wisp advert with the badly done voice-overs that make a family of peasants sound like they live in Mayfair. OK, so I'm from Newport, home of the GLC and Mayfair is in the only posh place I can think of because it's the most expensive place on the Monopoly board, but that's not the issue here.

I put it to the Ziners. Let the debate of irritating adverts begin!
Mothman

Those Yorkie ads. Politically incorrect or what?

Brown is no clown

Ian Brown has a "droning moo of a voice", does he? His voice was just as essential to The Stone Roses as John Squire's guitar, Reni's drums or Mani's bass. I'm looking forward to buying the reissue.

Also, I'd like to know what the big deal is over Arctic Monkeys. The Last Shadow Puppets' album was full of life, but the Monkets are just as dull and an endless parade of monotonous soundalikes followed them. Indieboy

WLW

I never thought it possible, but it's true. There at least two Stoke City fans who write to Zine! The Lesser Spotted Goose and me. All we need is everyone to admit to being a Potter and, hey presto, Stoke Zine! This could also mean there may be a Port Vale fan on Zine, but can they read?

WLW, d'ya mind if Lesser Spotted Goose and I start Delilah? I must warn you about a li'l' swear word in the middle, though. Well, can we?
Undeniable Me

That would be no! We'll have no swearing here.

Sieves

The nightmare scenario is this. You are washing up when you come across a sieve. Isn't it the most annoying thing? You wash all the little bits out of the hole and when you have finished there are new bits in it so you wash it again and all the original bits find their way in.

The really annoying thing should be watching TV while my parents do this.

Bury

Numberthree, I am also from the entertainment hot spot known as Bury. Maybe we are becoming famous for something other than Black Puddings and the world famous Bury market?

Oh, and a cookie to the first person to guess the origins of my name.

I think dr namgge will have a good idea.

East Sussex And Its Claims To Fame

* The man who invented TV lived here
* Jordan was born and bred here (not such a good thing)
* Both WLW and Dr Nick lived in Brighton (coincidence? I think not)
* And me!

Someone pleeeease get me out of here!

Superheroes

In my dream I have seen the fall of Planet Earth. We will fall to a gang of fabric-based supervillians led by the denomic and all-powerful Sid Silk. His minions include Nidderly Nooderly Nylon and Krag (he of unspecified material).

Can we be saved? Probably. If only the heroic Rope Ears and his sidekick The Cotton Kid can untangle themselves from themselves. The end is close...

Dominic Wood

I went into York a couple of weeks ago and I saw a bunch of people dressed as Vikings walking around followed by TV cameras.

I thought nothing of it until Sunday morning when I saw said idiots on D*ck and Dom in Da Bungalow. It turns out I was 20ft away from meeting Dominic Wood.
