Might be a weird one, but Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits.

I was never really a music guy. Still aren't, really. I think the only cds I owned at that point was Limp Bizkit (Chocolate Starfish...etc), Linkin Park (Meteora) and Red Hot Chilli Peppers (By The Way). But, despite having heard some GnR songs before, actually buying an album helped steer my music tastes in a more rock n' roll direction. Got me into Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Velvet Revolver and others, which gradually led into stuff like Neil Young and Pink Floyd.

Another was a random purchase - G3: Live in Denver 2003. Got me into guitar music like Satriani and Steve Vai for a while.
