There's no pride in being an amateur,
Hence, no sin in wanting to try -
Verse is generally a natural
Introspective,
A look inside oneself.

This bullsh*t "human nature"
That no-one can rely
on - because it doesn't exist except in
"The Human Directive" -
[available from yourself(c)].

Now - here's the truth of the human creature:
There is no "Human Condition" - why?
Because as far as verse is concerned, the natural
Way to write is to feel the phony self-loathing and be
Reflective,
You know what I mean - Another f*cking boring poem about yourself.

They don't even rhyme, simple amateur.
Ever heard of the word "STRUCTURE"?
No, didn't think so. You see,
There's no pride in being an amateur -
The sin lies in vanity.

Not all of us want to write classic poetry in the blind hope that we'll be recognised.

We aren't all bloody stuck up our own arses on some art trip.

"It may be called avant garde, but (in the words of my old friend Alvin) 'Avant garde clue'! " - George Harrison

If you don't like my poetry, don't read it.

Erm...at what point did I say it was aimed at you?

The poem is aimed at the whole repetetive self-pity attitude that's coming through in people our age today (just look at 90% of the poems on this forum...), poetry should be either a joy to read, or at least interesting. Most of these are neither.

Self pity never peeled a potato.

And this "stuck up our own arses on some art trip"? Do you think that when Michaelangelo painted the ceiling of the Cystene chapel he was "stuck up his own a*se on an art trip"? Fair enough if he was, but it didn't do him any harm, did it?

Patrick

P.S. I don't dislike your poetry, but I only appreciate it on an entertainment level because I can sense the tongue-in-cheek-ness of it. And don't get p*ssed off at criticism.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Just checking if you can quote a quote with a quote in it. (and seeing how many times i can put the word "quote" in a sentence)

your right, you can't quote a quote, but in development is a mod called "quote within quote", which will allow you to quote a quote, hence the name.

But you are wrong about how many times you can fit the word quote into a sentece, I just did 6
