Not as good as when people call me "fugly", which is of course a portmanteau of funny and giggly

Which is odd because I'm not really that giggly...

Some back catalogue you've got when you can play Thunder Road, following it with Born To Run and then play for another hour, despite having been onstage for two and a half hours already, without even breaking a sweat. Marvellous gig, that was. Never been to a stadium rock show in all my life, and hopefully I'll never go to another (unless he plays there again) but it was proper good. Well worth standing outisde all day in a good, old-fashioned, apocalyptic, end of the world Manchester downpour, without a waterproof jacket.....

Oh yeah, can also confirm that the cheeseburgers and steak and ale pies at Man City are proper good.

I got my passport at the 11th hour (seriously, got home at 9pm on the 15th June and left the house at 4am on the 16th for the airport). Was told all the way to the passport office that I had no chance as they don't do same day passports.

I've always thought I wasn't very lucky but now I've been and got home safe and sound I can reflect on the fact that I had some serious luck on my side to have managed it.

In the work pool for Euro 2012, one of my bosses has both Italy and Spain, meaning he's guaranteed to win both the €100 and €50 prizes for first and second place. Got a text from him last night (he's on holidays this week) just saying "Ker-Ching!!!!"

I was going to text him to tell him that we need to replace the office server, which could cost up to €2,000 (at a minimum, as we probably need to replace the 4 office computers too)... but I really want to be able to see the look on his face.

I love when people brag and I have a way to instantly take it away from them.

Either Grandad took his sleeping tablet too early or they gave him new ones or something, but either way, I could hear Mam laughing, and she called my name. I went into the hall to see her leaning against the wall in tears laughing, Grandad sitting on the floor bow-legged, and Dad standing behind him with a look of "I don't know what's happening either"

Grandad was saying the tablets were making him feel drunk, and not to come too near him as he used to fight a bit with a few drinks in him.

I have no idea what has happened, but yeah, pretty funny

I've had a totally wicked weekend.

Gig of the year on Friday night, without question. Went to see The Pine Hill Haints supported by Serious Sam Barrett at the Brud and it was wonderful. Sam's a really nice (and ridiculously talented) guy who I've seen countless times over the last few years and it was nice to see him again - great turnout as well. The Brud was rammed and he'll've known every single person in there, by face if not by name.

The Pine Hill Haints were a revelation, anyway. Self-proclaimed 'Alabama ghost music', was expecting them to be something like Old Crow Medicine Show, but not a bit of it. It was basically the sound off Eddie Cochrane being gang-raped, Deliverance-style by a gang of rednecks with a mutton-chopped, speed-freak Elvis-a-like banjo/washtub player, a 50s rock n roll icon for a singer, a wolfman drummer and a superbly bored, tiny blonde lady whose insturments of choice we the saw and the washboard. Absolutely tore the place apart, they did, a proper rockabilly racket, and they ended the set by carting half their equipment off stage and doing an acoustic set on the Brud steps, with everyone dancing around them. Rattle them bones indeed. Plenty of howling too, put me in mind of New Orleans.....Sam went down a treat too, like, but those guys kicked my teeth in.

I know I say this a lot, but James Murphy, you should really check these guys out. I'd never heard of them before Friday but am f*cking hooked now, just ordered a couple of their vinyls and will be quite happy to pay cash money to go see them again every time they come around.

So that was a good night anyway, ended up back here getting drunk and stoned in front of the fire till the same hours, then repeated the process on Sarturday, albeit after a really self-indulgent Woody Guthrie tribute night at the picture house, that should have been great but was really turgid. After was fun though.

And then yesterday I had me mam and dad and me grandmas round for food and booze, a happy day had by all and a bloody good smoker had by me afterwards. And to cap it all off it's payday today.

Sweet as f*ck

My boyfriend applied to be a retained firefighter a few months back, but they needed him to have an English qualification, and since his GCSEs had just expired (I didn't know they did that but apparently they do) he would have to pay for a new qualification.

BUT he got a phone call from them today saying that they'll pay for his English course if he'll join them

Now if you'll please excuse me, I must busy myself with the creation of the my-boyfriend's-going-to-be-a-fireman dance.
